Veronica had luckily gotten the job of the librarian at Halle's Library. She forgot all about her application that was submitted all the way back in September. One of her professors approved of her high literature grade, so she became the librarian. A few of her friends stopped by to give her lunch sometimes, but really nobody she knew came to the library.
James had come to check on her everyday, but he didn't exactly approach Veronica. He just peeked in to see if she was alright, then went along his way. But, today was quite different.
"Hey Veronica," Ina, one of her mutual friends, smiled at her. "Hi," Veronica smiled back, taking her books. "So...you and Nadia still in that fight?" Ina whispered. "Nah, we got over it." Veronica chuckled to herself. "That's good to hear." Ina assured, taking her books back and politely thanking her. Veronica saw James doing his daily checkup on her, but he caught her eye. He looked side to side, seeing the library was empty. James smiled, jogging to the desk. Veronica laughed, that wasn't the most attractive thing ever, but it was hilarious.
"Hey, Ronnie." James greeted, a sly smile placed on his rosy cheeks. "Hello Griffin."
Veronica pursed her lips, turning around.
"So. . What's on the agenda?" He asked, his chin placed on his hand lazily. "Um, finish the shift, Ryan can come and take over for me. I'll go to the pizzeria, go to my dorm. Do homework—""Sounds boring." He interrupted with a smirk.
"It is." She agreed, placing a book on the shelf. "How about we both go back to your dorm, McClain? We'll do homework, do other things."
James chuckled, looking down. Veronica rolled her eyes. "You have a girlfriend." Veronica reminded, with a tap on the nose. "Doesn't matter. I'm not implying anything in particular." He shrugged. Veronica shook her head. "Fine, but I'm not loosing my virginity to you." Veronica quirked her eyebrow, walking out of the library."That's What you were thinking about?! Veronica, you know me better than that!" They both laughed as James hurried out to catch up with Veronica.
...
It was Rachel's seventh month being pregnant, and her and Matt's seven-month anniversary.
The babies due date was January 5th, but Rachel felt these children was going to pop out at any moment. Lance had been a good brother, brought her snacks and such. Keith and Pidge were her main entertainment, they came over on the weekends—mostly Sundays—and looked at baby clothes for her and what not. Hunk cooked for her on the daily and bought her pop-tarts from the school cafeteria.Matt had been a great boyfriend overall—he called her every five seconds to see if she was alright, he stayed up extra late if she couldn't sleep, and when he was home, he cuddled with her. Matt made Rachel so damn happy, it's something she wished could last for eternity.
The babies started to kick last month, which was late. But the doctor had said that one child, most likely Xavier, was the bigger one and was very lazy. The only kicks that Rachel felt was Isabella, who seems to be energetic. At the moment, Rachel was reading a book.
"Then, there was one . . ." Was the name of the book to be exact. Her stomach had been settled that day, very easy going. Matt was coming home soon, and Lance had just come to check on her. Three sequenced knocks at her door was heard, and the girl looked up to her brothers' smile. Marco decided to stay a little after Thanksgiving."Marco, Lance! How can I help you, gentlemen?" Rachel smiled welcomingly, placing her book faced-down on the bed.
"Hola Rachel, we've come bearing gifts."
Marco chuckled, setting down blank white bags on the ground. Lance pursed his lips, waving
suspiciously to his sister."What did you do?" Rachel rolled her eyes, thinking of the possibilities. "Nothing!" Lance claimed, handing her the bag. Rachel cautiously peered into the bag, going as far to sniff it. "Smells like. . . a store." Rachel said, baffled and thrown off. "Whatever." She shrugged. She gasped, looking up at her two brothers. "No, you didn't!" Inside the Pandora bag was a little box and a letter.
She figured it was a necklace or something, but no. When Rachel opened the box, an engagement ring was placed neatly. "What?" She mumbled, clearly confused. "When you read the letter it'll make more sense." Marco suggested. "Ah." She nodded.
So, Rachel slid the envelope off, and a Blank White card was there. On the back was a familiar handwriting.
Dear Rachel,
I know it's only been seven months, but I wanted you to know—you mean everything to me. You're such a talented, kind-hearted, and beautiful girl, I'm so happy that I met you.
If it wasn't for the idea of my father going crazy, we probably wouldn't have ended up together. Anyways, getting back to the point.
I love you, Rachel McClain. So—look at the door, and all will be explained.Rachel's face turned all red, which made her brothers smile. She looked up at them, then at the door. Rachel was still holding the box cluelessly in her delicate hands, waiting.
Matt paraded in, beaming. "Hi." Rachel smiled.
"M'mam, I believe you have something of mine?" Matt said, taking the box from her hands. He got down on one knee, and as cliche proposals went, he announced his thankfulness."Rachel McClain, I'm pretty sure the letter explains much—but—would you like to be my wife—or something?" Matt dorkily asked.
Rachel cringed, laughing. Her laughs quickly transformed into sobs. "Yes, you big nerd!" She exclaimed through her cries. Lance and Marco shared a look as Keith, Pidge, and Hunk popped up, yelling "SURPRISE" very loudly.
Matt slid the gorgeous ring on the girl's ring finger, and they shared a warm and slow kiss.Lance started crying silently, Pidge had to be the one recording, Keith and Hunk stood on the sidelines, but they couldn't stop smiling.
Marco stood by his smaller brother, hugging him from behind. "I'm engaged, bitches!" All of them laughed at once, even the crying Lance. Pidge sent the video to all her friends, Lance's and Hunk's family, her family, and Keith—Just Keith."That was a horrible way to do it, Matt!" Rachel teased, ruffling his already-messy hair. "I know, but horrible is my thing." He remarked cunningly.
...
Veronica almost had a heart attack when her phone pinged. Pidge was spamming her tons and tons of pictures and videos. She gasped, smiling and sighing at the same time. Her sister was engaged. Actually, Rachel and Matt were engaged. "What?" James curiously asked, sitting next to her. "Rachel. Matt. Engaged!" She laughed hilariously, so surprised.
"That's great, Veronica!" James cheered along, just for the girl's amusement. "Yeah..." she sighed, the girl couldn't help but feel disappointed in herself. "What is it?" James nudged her. Veronica glanced at him, then back at her phone. "I—it's just that—Rachel's a year older than me and engaged, and I don't even have a boyfriend. I can see why Mamá looks down on me." Veronica crossed her arms over her chest.
"You don't need a boyfriend, Veronica." James sat up. "You have me." He reminded. "And you have Ina." Veronica looked away, avoiding his gaze. James shook his head, putting his hands on Veronica's shoulders. "We broke up. She's moving back to France." He looked hurt, but kind of happy.
A long silence awaited.
"So, I guess now's the time to say I actually like you." James chuckled, Veronica smiled along.
"I guess I can say the same." She muttered, embarrassed. "Then—I guess I can do—" Veronica interrupted him, kissing him.
It was like they both finally got something off their chest, something that's been killing them."So you can do that?" She smirked, tilting her head.
HELLO! I hope you all enjoyed one of the last chapters to Bubble Tea. A little hint was dropped somewhere in here, hoped you found it! And just because there's only a few more chapters left, doesn't mean there can't be angst.
Just a fair warning, loves.
Kisses,
Rena <3
