I ran straight without paying attention to my surroundings. Even if I was finally outside like I always wanted to be, I was too focused on Dedenne and getting help.
The gray skies of this early morning were sprinkling rain on us, making the road I ran through slippery. I kept nearly slipping on the concrete, so I resulted to running through the wet grass to get somewhere faster.
I knew nothing of where I was. It felt like I was running for at least 10 minutes, and there was still no sign of a Pokémon center. Dedenne was kept warm in my scarf while I raced through the pouring rain, wet and hungry.
"Please let there be a Pokémon center somewhere..." I begged and accidentally slipped forward. I forced my body to land sideways so Dedenne will be okay. "Someone..." I groaned in pain, feeling like my elbow went numb and forced myself up.
As soon as I tried taking a step forward, my foot slid downwards and caused me to roll down a muddy hill with steep trees everywhere. My body hit the ground multiple times, but I made sure Dedenne was still safe in my arms.
While trying to gain control of the momentum, the front of my body flew forward and made a hard impact against a tree branch with my head.
If I were a full vampire, this wouldn't have hurt as much, but it really got me. I lost control of my body and continued to fall until my body laid flat on the wet grass. I looked up and saw my scarf covering Dedenne's body from a distance.
I was in severe pain... I was weak. A weak vampire who doesn't know how to do anything but hide. I decided to leave the safety of the castle, but was I really safe? I might have been safe, but I wasn't living.
I didn't leave for me. I left for my dear Pokémon my mom gave me... I want it to be okay. It's my fault for not putting it in its Pokéball. This wouldn't have happened.
If it didn't happen, I would have still been heartbroken because of Layla "D-Dedenne..." I cried, trying to reach out towards its body "You're going to be okay... I'm not giving up on you. You're all I have right now," I imagined Layla's body back in the castle and threw up a little "Dedenne..." I felt someone approaching. I shut my eyes and sobbed to myself. Don't take me back... I don't ever want to go back to that place...
"Help..." I cried, "forget about me... save my precious Pokémon" my eyes were getting heavy. My mind started fogging up... I was falling asleep. Don't worry about me... just take care of Dedenne. If I die right here, maybe for once I can be happy... but wouldn't mom be sad?
I heard footsteps coming closer to me with a fast heartbeat. I could tell they noticed me reaching for Dedenne. "Make sure... he's okay" I felt a tear slowly travel down to my lips, and I slowly blacked out before I got the chance to hear what they said.
My consciousness slowly came back and brought me to a place where I was lying on a soft, comfy bed. I didn't want to open my eyes, mainly because I don't want to believe anything that happened was real. I was hoping everything I saw before was only a dream, and once getting up, I'll still be locked in my room.
Nothing went well once leaving that room... I knew I should have just stayed in until my mom came, but I just couldn't help myself.
My eyes felt like they were laying underneath a bright white light, preventing me from opening them in the first place. My room didn't have any sort of white light... so where am I?
I laid there in what felt like my own sweat, and for some reason, I felt really hot... My head felt light, and I had the need to cough, but I didn't want to make any sudden movements until I know where I was.
Someone's footsteps walked up a set of wooden stairs. They came up to the bed I was on and moved some curtains to keep the light away from me "That's better" a male voice spoke. I froze and held my breath, unable to recognize this voice...
