"It wasn't easy..." I explained to him my situation on why and how I left. He leaned both elbows on his desk and stared at nothing in particular, looking like he was trying to not feel shocked about the whole thing.

"I-I'm sorry you had to go through all that... It must've been a lot for a girl of your condition" I nodded. He relaxed and leaned normally on his desk "You were amazing to begin with, but to think you've gone this far with a group of hunters and crafters. I'm impressed"

"Mom doesn't even know I'm out here... at least I don't think so. When Xavier and I faced the leader, she told me that they barely noticed that I've escaped after this long" I looked down "They're looking for me. I now fear for the safety of my friends. I bet the other leaders will come after me and all..."

"As long as you hide your eyes, they shouldn't know. The leader that saw you was the only one who saw you, correct?" I nodded "She was killed under your hands after Xavier had foolishly stumbled into her layer. You followed him, and that was the best decision he could had made to bring you along. You saved him from getting killed, and right now that's all that should matter" I nodded quickly.

"Yes! I'm grateful that I got to rescue him! But..." I frowned "I wouldn't had been able to have done it if it weren't for feeding on him" I cupped my face "My body was rejecting me before... I couldn't walk properly because my body was slowly dying. I ate so much to control my energy, but it wasn't enough. His blood isn't like any other. I don't gag or throw up..." I looked at my hands "I become a monster and feed on him. I'm terrified of killing him... I don't want to be like this. I want to be normal and not have to depend on his blood" I sniffled "I crave it so much... That girl shot me with that dagger because she saw I was about to bite him... I'm glad it stopped me, but..." I cupped my face and sobbed "I don't want to be a monster" Augustine got up from his chair and came over to rub my back.

"You know about my daughter, don't you?" I looked up and looked at him, then nodded "She is a vampire that was abandoned in the streets. Despite knowing she was a vampire from the moment she opened her eyes, I took her in anyways. I know there are good vampires out there" that made me think of the man I met in Santalune city "I wanted to get to know a vampire up and personal, and took Shauna as my daughter"

"Was it for a experiment?" I questioned. He chuckled and kneeled down to come closer to me.

"It was. I wanted to see if raising a vampire would change the monster in her. As you can tell, she's very sweet, but has attitude" I smiled a little "I fed her my blood when she wanted it, and it was often. I taught her that she had to act human in order to stay with me. She was scared to be left alone, since she could remember being in that alley alone and scared" Shauna...

"She did as told, and it was very difficult on her. What I told her made her decision making quite dangerous. She only ate human food and refused to drink my blood, saying that she was going to keep her promise. Normally, vampires need blood at least once a week, so when Shauna started getting weak, she started taking my blood more than three times a day. Her hunger increased the more she stayed away from it. For a healthy vampire, especially one who is growing, you would need about an ounce a day in your case..." I flinched.

"But that's too much! That can kill him!"

"A ounce is not too much. This is for children, and since you're a grown woman, you'll need more. You'll need to take in little at a time for your body to get use to it. In no time, you'll only need the blood once a week" I shook my head.

"Even if it's once a week, the average human is said to donate blood once a month. I don't want to take so much that it'll make him weak! He's a hunter! He needs all the energy he has!"
