Chapter 32: Mastery*

Shauna has been asking me for days on what happened between me and Xavier. To be frank, I just couldn't get myself to talk about it. It's been about two weeks since I last ran away from Cyllage city when I experienced the betrayal. I was still emotional about it, and I couldn't seem to understand why it's still bothering me.

"Come on, Master!" Shauna whined "You have to tell me!" She asked in our hotel room at night. She just got back from another investigation in the city and have been nonstop asking me what was wrong every time she comes back. All I've been doing was stay in my room reading a book Trevor got me that he thought I would like. It's been awhile since I've read a book... especially a new one. It's very relaxing.

"What did I tell you about calling me master?" I sweat dropped. She giggled "I thought that was an order"

"It was! But I just wanted you to react so that I can get something out of you!" I sighed "was what ever happened really that bad between you two? He's going to get a punishment after you reported his act to us.Trevor told the headmaster. Is that what you were worried about?" I didn't say anything "You can't stop a punishment. The chaos spread like wildfire just like the first time, and it would've been put on him either way since he was to blame last time"

"A punishment for him is the least of my worries" I set my book down "Even if is was, I can't imagine what a second punishment will be compared to the first one"

"The first one was so minor that it hardly takes a toll on you. I'm sure it's going to be physical punishment this time" I looked at my book "I really want to comfort you and see what's bothering you. If I knew, you could feel better. I've been trying for days to have you open up" I sighed and looked over at Eevee sleeping on my bed soundly next to Absol and Kirlia.

"Fine" I told her everything that happened that night. Her face was pale and she was silent "It's so confusing on why he would do something like that to me... I thought I meant something to him"

"If I were to think like him, I would had done whatever it took to keep anyone from taking you away from that horrible place you ran away from. You didn't want him dealing with a leader anymore, so he went behind your back and took your blood so you wouldn't be involved. I know it was wrong about what he did, but he didn't want to take the chance in you leaving him" I looked at her confused "He took an opportunity of a life time when you made that order to not touch you or him"

"How... How would you know this..?" She sighed and leaned on her bed's headboard.

"Being a hunter takes 10 years to master. It's not like what me and the boys do. Dad told me that at a young age, X countlessly watched family members suffering under the hands of the council. For generations, they killed many of his grandmas side of the family for having the best blood they ever had. There was no way to tell if it was accidental, but his grandpa was able to keep her around longer than expected. Xavier watched his grandpa blame himself for her lost and then heard he got murdered by them. His family suffered too much. His dad wanted to keep his family from dying like that, but he didn't get to protect them like he wanted. Xavier is very protective and has his mind set on the council no matter how many times you tell him to keep away from them. He understands he is powerless, but when a human is determined to do something, they do it. I'm sure he understood what you were feeling, but he took this opportunity so they won't take you from him" she looked down "Did you even taste the anxiety in his blood? I wouldn't know all this if dad never told me"

"So that's why he decided to became a hunter at such a young age" I curled up my legs to hug them "I guess I know where he's getting at. I just wish he talked to me instead of putting me to sleep"

"That was wrong on himself, but humans are strange creatures. Their emotions get the better of them and they use loopholes to get to what they desire even if it means it's wrong" I rubbed my burning eyes holding back tears.
