News begins to spread about the boy's death. The papers and reports called it the eleventh death of a teen with the recent ongoing events.
"Autopsies and reports say that the victim was shot at least three times. Once in the chest, puncturing through a lung, and twice in the abdomen. People are questioning whether this incident may have any kind of connection to the recent drug overdose deaths."
My fist shakes as I tighten my grip.
I'll make sure they find out.
I call the law firm and a woman answers. "Nelson and Murdock, this is Karren Page. How may I help you?"
"I need to speak to Murdock, please. He was expecting a call from me."
"Yes. May I ask who's calling?" She asks.
"Peter Parker."
The phone goes silent for a bit. Then, Matt answers the phone. "This is Matt Murdock."
"Matt, they killed him. They killed the boy."
"I saw the news. People think there may be a connection to all the-"
"Because there is Matt. I saw to it myself. Those bastards who killed the kid gave up their boss, and you're not going to believe it when I tell you who it is."
"It's Wilson Fisk." I reveal.
I don't hear a response come from the other end for a few seconds.
"Matt?" I verified.
Over the phone I hear, "Son of a bitch!" Followed by a loud thunk.
He gets back to the phone and says, "We need to find him. Now."
"Yeah well this man is untouchable. We don't have evidence to secure his arrest much less a reason for us to attack him-"
"Peter, listen. This monster has been torturing me by going after the people I love. He's gotten the blood of my loved ones on other people's hands. He's making money off of illegal drugs... Selling them to kids. He's about to cause the destruction of a whole city from a full blown war. I can't let him walk free any longer. The politics aren't going to work this time."
His voice was so stern and furious. I couldn't convince him over the phone to change his plan of action.
"Where do we meet?" I ask.
*****
"Matt, we can't just go in and attack him. I know you want him in jail as badly as me, if not more, but we need to figure out a different plan. One where we can ensure he gets locked up for good," I explain.
For a blind man, I never knew he could make me feel like he was staring at me. Matt stays quiet. His head shifts at the bell hanging above us.
"He won't stay in jail. Not for good. He's always going to be walking free because he has everyone under his sleeve. He's corrupted more than half of this city's law enforcement, Congress men, drug dealers, arms weapon dealers, federal agents... He'll be out within a few months or a year. I can't let that happen anymore. Not for the sake of the people I love."
Rains pours and I can see him almost tap into the energy of the water hitting the ground.
"As a kid, I always prayed to God asking if he could handle my problems or give me the strength to push through. I did that when I lost my sight to radioactive chemicals spilled on my face. I did that when my father was murdered. I did that when my mother was no where to be found... When I was put in an orphanage. Right here in this very church. Church of Our Savior. God never answered me, yet I believed one day my prayers would be answered. How foolish I was. I ended up pursuing law. I put away criminals. I proved people innocent and kept them from being wrongfully put away. I was getting more things I wanted done than God. Maybe that's why I call myself Daredevil and fight in a costume that is associated with the figure that opposed God. His plan didn't get shit done. Only I am. And now, I'm going to get rid of Wilson Fisk once and for all."
