"You know? This sucks." I said as I sat on the ledge of the building.
My best friend was right beside me eating a McDonald's biscuit (Bacon, egg, and cheese to be exact.) She looked at me and protested, "What do you mean? These are awesome! Like, who doesn't like a biscuit at like... 5 AM?"
"Well, me," I replied, "But that's not what I'm talking about, dude."
"I told you you shouldn't have ordered the pancakes-"
"I'm not talking about the pancakes, Nat."
She put the sandwich away and bagged it next to her. "Is it him again?"
I pulled the mask off and replied, "Yeah."
I explained the situation to her. Although she gives the best support, I can tell she doesn't know what exactly to tell me because well... It's different. I'm different.
"You already know that it was hard enough to keep these powers a secret, and with this... I don't know," I told.
"I mean... I can kind of understand. I have the same powers as you, but I can't imagine how you feel especially since you might be keeping another secret on this big of a scale as this."
"It sucks, Nat. I can't do anything about it. All I can is just... Support. But I can't do this again. Not again..."
She faces me and says, "Look, I know you want to be able to do more, but the truth is: you can't. This is something that's up to him. All you can do is be the best person for him. Give him the support-"
"Well, yeah I'm giving him the support because he can't get it from anyone else aside from friends... I.. just wish this was over and back to normal."
"I know, Art. I know..." She said as she patted my back.
I gazed into the city skyline and let out a breath.
"You know Art, that's one of the many things I admire about you. You help people no matter what, even if it hurts."
"Yeah well, that's not a fun thing to do. Just... The right one."
As I take a sip out of my strawberry and banana smoothie, I hear Nat shout, "AH FRICKLES!"
I burst into laughter and ask, "Yo what the fuck??"
"I DROPPED MY BISCUIT!" She exclaimed.
"Welp, let's see who catches it-"
Right before I could finish my sentence, someone shouts, "ARGH! WHO- CURSE YOU SPIDER-MAN!"
"HEY, IT WASN'T ME, IT WAS MY FRIEND."
"WHATEVER, BUG. JAMESON'S RIGHT ABOUT YOU. YOU'RE A MENACE."
Nat cackles. "And I thought not being famous was a bad thing."
"You're lucky the Bugle doesn't call Silk a menace to New York."
As she stands up, she says, "Eventually. C'mon, let's go web up some bad guys."
