**This one's going to be a Miles Morales story since I fucking love the new game rn

Sheet rock, marble, and glass rip through Spider-Man's suit. One would think his costume would be a lot more durable to such debris, but it can only hold up so much before it's worn down by constant pummeling. At this point, the only thing keeping Miles alive are his agility and precognitive abilities.

Maybe even the chance that she'd come to realize that's there's still another way.

Because Miles was not going to risk losing anyone else.

He lost his father when he was being commemorated for his heroic acts as a police officer. A man of hatred caused a catastrophic event that took Miles' father from him. And for a time, Miles felt hatred for that man.

Now, he was facing someone of similar destructive potential, yet he couldn't bring himself to hate them because Phin Mason was his best friend, one who always wanted to create with him at her side. Phin had lost someone wrongfully and everything that was happening around him- the Roxxon tower bring torn apart at her hands- was understandable but nowhere near justifiable.

"Listen to me!" Miles pleaded, "We can bring Rick justice if you stop fighting me!" Miles was tired, and wanted nothing more but to have Phin walk home with him despite bruising, battering, and shattering him. Despite the contrast of tone when she told him, "I don't want to kill you."

Or maybe she really didn't want to kill him. Maybe her hatred for the man that killed her brother purposely has hazed her. Just a blind determination to accomplish her goal: the humiliation of Simon Krieger, Rick's murderer.

Bellow them, an energy reactor, powered by experimental fuel, is on the verge of combustion, and Phin wants it to blow up. It'd be a message to Krieger. "Destroy my life, and I'll make sure what's left of yours are ashes."

In this blind hatred, such victory would come at the cost the entirety of Harlem. Miles knew that, and that's why he couldn't let Phin win. If she got her way, there's no telling how many would experience what he felt the day he lost his father.

"I know," Miles exhaled, "The Phin I know is in there. The same person who dreamed of creating for others than destroying others." He catches one of her gauntlets in his hand, but the other pummels him across the room into a window. Gasping, he shouts, "Rick would've never wanted this!"

For a second, Phin stops in her tracks. Her helmet retracts, and she begins slamming into Miles. "Don't you ever say his name again!" She picks up Miles by the collar and continues, "I
thought I had a family. I thought I'd still have a brother even though Rick was dead. A mother... A family. And you just left!"

Miles responds, "We've always been your family, Phin," Miles winced, "Mom and I have always and will always be there for you."

"Please just come home."
