lauren,
all i ever hear about is school. i officially hate school as of this moment.
school sucks.
i don't have any friends. well unless my cousins count? i guess they are who i spend my time with.
i don't like social interaction.
basically i'm an awkward freak and get made fun of sometimes for it but not really.
i'm really smart, and my parents are always up my butt about going to yale. my dad more than my mom though.
i don't want that. it's their dream, not even close to my dream.
"mornin' sunshine!" hailey cane up to me with her brother next to her.
"morning" i smiled.
"you coming to the game tonight?" blake asked me.
"no. i don't go to games but you two have fun" i said closing my locker.
"you're coming" hailey said.
"no" i said.
"yes" she exclaimed.
"no" i said.
"please?" she asked with pleading eyes.
"fine. i hate you" i said.
"no you don't" she said and we hooked arms.
i rolled my eyes smiling at her.
we started walking down the hall, i looked over for a split second and saw shawn mendes.
he was on the football team. he's really cute.
but he's always with his friends on the team.
and they don't date, that's for sure.
and why would he want to date someone like me anyways??
hes smart too, he doesn't like to show it but i notice in class how he pays attention.
me and hailey parted ways.
i walked into my first class. chemistry.
i sat in my usual spot.
"okay, everyone if you'll pass the homework up please" she called.
i took mine out my folder and passed it up to samantha crook.
she took it after i waited for like a whole minute.
"you're so annoying, freakazoid" she said snatching the paper.
i ignored her comment and sat back in my seat.
freakazoid. that's a new one.
i looked over across the room and saw shawn was looking at me.
i felt self conscious and insecure.
was there something on my face maybe?
i looked away quickly and down at my empty desk waiting for class to start.
i was playing with my hands.
i took my phone out and just scrolled through pinterest while i waited.
after class was over, i got up and went to walk only to be pushed back by samantha.
"watch your step, freak" she spat.
"sorry" i rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out as she walked ahead of me.
i sat waiting for her to grab all of her stuff and talk to her friends.
it was like ten minutes.
finally she walked out so i could leave now.
"hey shawnie boo" samantha put her hand on his chest.
he glanced at me for a second.
"hey, samantha" he said trying to look anywhere but me.
"if you're gonna talk to your boyfriend, can you please move out the way?" i asked getting annoyed.
shawn took that as his chance to leave which he did.
"seriously freakazoid, you just ruined the moment!" she screamed and walked out.
i sighed trying to calm down and not punch her.
cause that's what i was feeling.
i wanted to punch her and slap her across the face.
i went to find hailey and blake.
i didn't find hailey but i did find blake.
"hey, wheres hailey?" i asked.
"am i not good enough?" he joked.
"no you're not." i stated.
"what! i was-" i smiled showing him i was joking.
"i'm just kidding, b" i smiled.
* * * * *
"you will have fun. stop stressing, laur." hailey assured me.
"i know, i probably will. let's just go" i said and we bought our tickets and walked to the stands.
*
"i'm gonna go get some food, be back" she said and left me alone.
it was halfway through the game and i have been watching.
our team was actually really good.
but i kept watching number 14.
shawn. i don't know why but to me he was the best player on the team.
it was halftime now and the cheer team was going out.
i watched as shawn took off his helmet and walked to the sidelines but before he reached that he looked up and saw me.
he made eye contact for a second.
then looked away.
i sighed and put my head on my hand waiting for hailey.
*
the game was over now.
"i'm gonna go to the bathroom" i said.
"okay, i'll meet you in the car" she said and walked off.
i walked towards the bathroom.
after i finished, i walked out and bumped into somebody.
"oh, i'm so sorry" i said apologizing.
"no worries" shawn. i looked up and saw shawn.
i was like froze. am i suppose to say something now?
"hey, you're that girl in my chemistry class" he smiled a little.
"yeah. i am" i said.
"i should go" i said then and tried to go but he stopped me.
"what's your name?" he asked me.
i knew his.
"lauren." i said softly.
"mines shawn." he said.
"we should hang out sometime" he smiled.
"why?" i asked.
"because you're pretty and you pay attention to football" he said.
"i do?"
"i saw you up there. you were definetly into it"
"i wasn't. my cousin dragged me here." i tried to back up my lie.
"you can't lie to me, lauren"
"shawn!! come on bro, we're gonna go to waffle house" one of the other guys on the team called.
"duty calls. i'll see you around" he said and walked away.
yeah see you around shawn
