lauren,

"yeah you're right." shawn ran after me.

he spun me around and looked me in the eyes.

"you weren't my girlfriend, i wasn't your boyfriend but i wish you were" he said.

i glanced away from him.

"lauren. i wanted to ask you to be my girlfriend so many times but i didn't know how" he said.

"i think you just did" i said.

"lauren taylor. you are so beautiful. you are more than enough for me. will you please be my girlfriend?" he asked me with a slight smile on his face.

"yeah." i smiled, feeling as happy as ever.

he smiled at me too.

"i want to kiss you" he said.

"i'm not gonna stop you" i said.

so he smiled at me and kissed me.

it was the best kiss i have ever shared with anyone.

his kiss beat anyone else's.

this moment beat any other.

when we pulled away, we couldn't help but just smile.

"i have to go back and work but i'll call you when i get home if that's okay" he said.

"i'll be waiting" i said and walked away.

i walked inside with the food and coffee for my parents.

"here" i said putting it on the table.

"now go to your room. you don't skip school" he said.

"you're being unfair" i said.

"excuse me" he said.

my mom gave me a warning look saying i shouldn't do this, not right now.

"you're being unfair" i repeated what i said.

"do you want to be grounded for the rest of the year?" he asked angrily.

"i'll just sneak out" i said.

"lauren gloriana taylor" he said loudly.

"you want me locked in my room and then you'll throw me textbooks to study right?"

"well you need to if you want to get into yale"

"have you ever even thought about what i wanted for once?" i asked.

"i know what you want!" he yelled.

"no you don't because you've never asked me! you don't know what i want. you know what you want. i don't want this. i don't want to spend my life studying to get into yale. i don't want yale. that's what you want dad. i-i just wish for once in your life you would understand me and listen to what i'm telling you!" i said.

he didn't say anything. he was speechless.

"i'm staying at aunt gina's house tonight" i mumbled and walked out the house, slamming the door

i walked out.

"where are you going?" my mom was now following me.

"i can't stay" i said.

"i'm so sorry"

"you should have defended me." i said.

"you just- you don't understand, lauren and that's okay. you're young" she said.

"what don't i understand, mom?"

"he's too caught up in his own life, to care about others"

"then why the hell are you with him?" i asked.

"because he's my husband"

"but you don't love him. i'm going to the cafe" i said and got in my car and drove to the cafe.

shawn was still there. he'd be there for another hour.

i just sat inside.

i ordered myself a muffin and sat down at one of the tables.

i heard the ding and saw samantha and her crew walk in

i also saw shawn walk out, he looked at me and was about to walk over when samantha stopped him.

"hey shawnie" she smiled.

"get off" shawn said.

"but you want me"

"no, i don't. i have a girlfriend" he said obviously annoyed.

"what? the smartie pants? that loser. come on you can do way better! me"

"i don't want you" he said and walked away and to me.

"hey, are you okay?" he asked me.

"yes." i sighed.

"really? cause all i'm seeing is you not being okay"

"i'm not okay. i don't want to go to yale, shawn" i said.

"you don't have to"

"that's all my dad cares about and it sucks" i said.

"come here" he said.

i got up and sat on him.

i put my head on his chest and his arm was rubbing my back while he kissed my head.

"it's gonna be okay" he whispered.
