lauren,
i had the week off from dance this week, so i decided that i would go back home to canada to see my mom and my friends with shawn. but we didn't tell them
so we could surprise them.
"are you ready to go?" shawn walked into my dorm room.
chelsea was sitting at the desk behind the computer doing a last minute assignment but she spun around in her chair when shawn walked in.
"hi, shawn" she smiled at him and looked at me.
"what?" i asked looking at her.
"nothing, i-i just..." she looked at shawn and then me again. "i think you're going to have a really good week"
she was being weird. i looked at shawn and he looked away from me quickly because whatever was going on with chelsea, he knew exactly what it was.
he looked at me again and smiled. "ready?"
"yes" i said and grabbed my bag and looked at chelsea. "i'll see you in a week"
she nodded. "you better call me"
"i will" i said and walked out the door as shawn held it open for me to go first and i did.
i turned around and looked at him when he closed the door.
"what aren't you telling me?" i asked him but with a smile because whatever he was hiding, i could tell it wasn't bad but i wanted to know still.
"nothing" he said.
"i don't believe you" i said.
his smile faded whenever i said the words and i didn't know why and then i remembered the day we broke up when he was trying to convince me that he loved me and i said i didn't believe him. that must have been the worst moment for him.
i grabbed his hand and held it tightly and looked at him. "i'm sorry"
"you believe me now, don't you?" he asked and he wasn't talking about whatever he's hiding.
"i do" i nodded and he smiled as he looked away from me.
"seriously." i looked at him. "what are you hiding from me, shawn mendes?"
he looked at me. "you'll just have to wait a few days"
"what?" i exclaimed.
"it will be worth it" he said. "promise"
"i trust you" i said.
"let's go" he said.
*
i knocked on the front door of my house softly and stood there for a few moments as i waited for the door to open and when it did, my mom stood there and she gasped with her hand over her mouth when she saw me.
"oh!" she smiled. "lauren"
she then pulled me into a long hug and didn't let go of me. i didn't realize how much i had missed my mom until i was here in her arms crying my eyes out.
it hasn't been that long since i left but i really missed her so much.
we pulled away from the hug and i came inside the house. the house still looked the same and smelt the same way it always had. i really missed this place and her so much.
"i didn't know you were coming" she said. "i would've-"
"i wanted it to be a surprise." i smiled.
"how long are you staying?"
"a week" i said.
"this is incredible. i missed you"
