Ang saya ko ngayon! Today is my birthday!

Gumising ako ng maaga to prepare. Sisimba kami ni Kuya. Hindi makakasama sila Mommy dahil nagpe-prepare din sila para sa pag-punta namin ng Morong.

6 am ang first mass so kailangan kong magmadali.

I grabbed my phone to check my messages. Andami ng mga bumati.

I'm waiting for Gio's message but wala. Baka tulog pa yon HAHAHA.

Naligo na muna ako para hindi sayang ang oras. I blow-dried my hair at nagbihis na.

I wore the black and red dress na regalo ni Mommy sakin nung christmas. The top is a criss-cross off-shoulder ,the skirt has a net with embroidered design and a red fabric underneath.

Inayusan ko na rin ang buhok ko. I decided to curl the bottom of my hair and pinned it.

Nag-apply din ako ng light make-up to highlight my features.

*tink*

Napangiti akong bigla. Naka-assign yung ringtone na yon kay Gio.

Kinuha ko agad ang phone ko na nasa aking bag. I checked the contents of the message.

P.s. Sorry, i couldn't make it to your birthday. Na delayed ang flight namin.

All of my happiness vanished. But he promised me that he will come. Sobrang disappointed ako at gusto ko ng umiyak.

Tinatamad na akong magsimba.

Nahiga na lang ako sa kama ko. I covered my eyes using my arms to prevent myself from crying.

This is the first time na hindi nya natupad and promise nya. Even his birthday greetings disappointed me, sobrang ikli!!

I heard the creaking sound of the door and faint footsteps.

I felt someone lay beside me.

"Happy Birthday!" Kuya Rael greeted, removing my arm to see my face.

"Oh? What happened? Ba't ang lungkot mo?" He asks concern written all over his face.

"Inaantok lang ako Kuya. Happy birthday din" matamlay kong pahayag at tumayo na.

Kahit na ayaw kong lumabas sa sobrang lungkot, naisip ko na I need to be happy dahil talagang pinag-handaan nila mommy itong birthday namin.

I don't want to disappoint them. And above all, I need to thank God for giving us another year to live.

I listened intently sa mass, pinilit kong ifocus ang sarili ko sa pakikinig at wag nang isipin si Gio.

Natapos ang mass at diretso na kami ni Kuya sa bahay.

Kapasok namin ng bahay,parang walang tao. Nakapatay din lahat ng ilaw.

Don't tell me they're preparing a surprise party?

"Kuya?" Lumingon ako sa likod ko para hanapin si Kuya, he's nowhere to be seen.

May narinig akong ingay sa may kitchen, it sounded like muffled voices.

"Hmpghhmpdh"

I followed the sound.

By the time I reached the source of the sound, I saw Kuya being lifted by a masked man like a sack of rice.

"KUYYYAAA!" I screamed, running towards the man but engulfed by a handkerchief with an undistinguishable smell.

The last thing naalala ko ay binuhat rin ako at ipinasok sa van.

My head feels so heavy, parang hinahampas ng martilyo sa sakit.

I can feel na nakaupo ako ngayon, blindfolded at nakagapos. But not too tightly.

Nakidnap ba kami?

Nag-papanic na kinapa ko si Kuya sa tabi ko. We can't die yet! Birthday pa naman namin ngayon.

Nakarinig ako ng mahinang yabag.

"WALA PO KAMING PAMBAYAD NG RANSOMMM!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

I heard a faint laughter at my back.

Dahan-dahang kinalas ang gapos sa aking kamay at kasunod noon ang blindfold ko.

Nasilaw ako sa sobrang liwanag ng ilaw, but after a few moments, naka-adjust na din ako sa ilaw.

I can see a banner at the ceiling saying....

"HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYY!!"
