Tahimik lang kaming nakaupo ni Hal dito, wala ni isa sa amin ang may balak na magsalita.

But it's not one of those silence na masakit sa tainga. This one's a comfortable silence.

"So, care to tell me what's bothering you?" Pagbabasag niya ng katahimikan.

His eyes directed on me, pinagmasdan ko muna ang dagat na dahan-dahang humahampas sa dalampasigan.

Huminga ako ng malalim at humarap sakanya.

"The guy I like, likes me"

Another moment of silence.

"Diba dapat masaya ka? That's every girls dream! Minsan lang ang ganyan, you should grab the opportunity" panghihikayat niya.

I pouted.

"But I like him platonically, not romantically. He's my bestfriend. Ayaw ko na masaktan siya" I admitted,burying my face in between my knees.

Narinig ko siyang bumuntong hininga.

"That must be hard. Siya ba 'yon? Yung Gio?" He asked, pronouncing Gio's name a bit harsh.

I nodded in reply.

Naisip ko na naman si Gio, all the memories we have, the smiles and cries we shared. I can't put that to waste.

"Well then, why don't you try?" He asks again, lifting my head to meet my gaze.

"I can't and besides..." I paused for a while, thinking if I should say this to him.

He look at me with questioning eyes, motioning me to continue my sentence.

"I already like somebody else" pag-amin ko, ceasing the eye contact.

Naramdaman kong nag-iinit ang pisngi ko, that was like an indirect confession.

He chuckled lightly, I turned around to face him. He had a lopsided grin on his face.

Nagtataka akong tumingin sa kanya.

"Nothing. It's just that, ang swerte ng taong nagugustuhan mo." He said, moving closer towards me.

Nanlaki ang mata ko, my cheeks are burning up. Titig na titig siya sa mata ko. It's as if minememorize niya ito.

"You have everything a man wants. You're very ideal" he whispers, gently placing my loose hair on my ear.

I gulped.

"So lucky, dapat kaniyang pahalagahan. Tell me when he hurts you okay? I'll beat him to pulp." Aniya, slowly moving away.

Nakahinga na ako nang maluwag. Sinusubukan pa rin kalmahin ang puso kong naghuhuramentado.

"Remember you can tell me anything that burdens you. That's what friends are for."He added.

Ouuuuuccccchhhh. Friendzoned ako.

Napasimangot tuloy ako. One moment he was sweet and now he's breaking my heart.

We stayed there for another couple of minutes. Tahimik lang kaming dalawa. Taking in the freshness and calmness of the night.

"Blughh!*hic* Stupid! *hic*" wika ng isang estranghero na pasuray-suray sa paglalakad at hawak ang isang basag na bote na kaniyang iwinawagayway.
