"Let's go Urana," Ava smiles kindly at her as they finish up breakfast that her mom made.

"Yeah," Urana nods silently. She puts her plate in the sink before following Ava outside.

The smaller teen constantly looks over at the taller teen to make sure if she was okay. Not that she would be...not anytime soon. So Ava holds Urana's hand.

They reach the familiar house and knock on the door. Alex opens it, a big smile on his face to see them.

"Morning guys!" Alex moves out of they way for them. "We're just finishing up breakfast."

"And then we get to go to the Magic World right?" Ava asks and Alex nods. The two of them cheer in excitement.

Brenton turns around and gives Urana a knowing look. She turns to the couch and sits down with a thump. He goes over while Ava gives him a knowing look too.

"Hey," Brenton sits down next to her. "Are you okay? I felt your emotions...I'm worried about you."

Urana looks over at his kind amber eyes looking at her. His eyebrows curved like an exponential graph that show his worry. Mouth frowning.

How could they ever even hate this caring person?

"I'm not okay," Urana takes a deep breath and Brenton holds her hand.

It's warm.

"My adoptive parents..." Urana, despite knowing they didn't want to be associated with her, calls them her parents anyway. "They...they found out about my magic...and they kicked me out. I'm not their daughter anymore."

"WHAT?!" Brenton's eyes widen. "Did they hurt you?" Panic arises in his voice as Urana shakes her head. "Then what are those bandages from?"

"They threw out anything that reminded them of me...the glass shards cut my cheeks," Urana touches her cheeks, running her hand over the bandages. "They...they kicked me out while pointing a gun at me." She starts crying.

"The hell is wrong with them?" Brenton feels fury build up inside of him, adding onto all the old anger. "Urana, they don't deserve a daughter like you. You're the most wonderful person and anyone who can't see that is a fucking idiot." He brings her into a hug and holds her tight.

"Maybe I'm the fucking idiot," Urana sniffs. "Like in what right mind did I think that they would accept my half-ass excuses for magic...I'm the fucking idiot."

"No, you're not!" Brenton hugs his sister even tighter and Urana's lip quivers at the warmth she feels from the hug. "You're amazing and beautiful and please don't ever let people like that change you!"

"I love your hugs..." Urana closes her eyes, resting her head against his shoulder.

"Ava, we've gotta go deal with some dumbasses," Alex cracks his knuckles. "You in?"

"Big time," Ava cracks her own knuckles and Urana couldn't help but let out a chuckle-sob at how determined the two most cheerful people looked.

"Who are we beating up?" Sasha appears. "Woah, girl you okay?"

"Not really," Urana moves away from the hug.

"Then who's the asshole we're beating up?" Sasha questions.

"Two actually, her adoptive adults," a fire burns in Brenton's eyes. "I should burn down their house."

"Woah Brenton, no," Owen, the only with reason left, holds up his hands. "We can't just go and burn their house down. Are you trying to end up in jail or something?"

"No, but those assholes need to be taught a lesson for hurting my little sister," Brenton's spikes light on fire. Everyone else nods and Urana couldn't decide if she felt more love from them before. "They had a gun pointed at her for fuck's sake!"

"While I agree, we aren't trying to get ourselves in trouble because then who's gonna be by Urana's side?" Owen brings up a good point. "Exactly. So we can make their life miserable by methods that won't land us in legal trouble."

"What are all of you planning here?" Ku asks as he comes down the steps. "Urana, are you alright?"

"Sensei...I'm so sorry...my parents found out about my magic and they kicked me out but I promise they won't tell anyone because they want to be normal," Urana feels guilty.

"Oh Urana, it is perfectly okay," Ku comes over. "But why would they...? Do you want a hug?"

To answer his question, Urana hugs Ku first and he hugs her back. She is grateful that there was at least one adult that wouldn't leave her.

"They aimed a gun at me..." she mumbles and Ku loses his shit.

"Okay, who is ready to make their life hell?" Ku asks and everyone roars in agreement.

"Sensei, not you too," Owen shakes his head. "We can't do anything about that...but I have a better idea."

"Better than blinding them?" Alex questions.

"Better than burning down their house?" Brenton asks.

"Better than making all their fears come to life?" Sasha questions.

"Better than taking all the air from their lungs?" Ava asks.

"Dang you guys are scary but yes," Owen gulps. "We can do something else that won't get us all landed in legal trouble. If we get revenge then we won't feel satisfied with it. Trust me. The best thing to do is not give them the time of day. We're giving them power over us if we think about them."

"Owen's right," Urana agrees, everyone turns to hear her speak. "They're not worth our time...at all."

"I promise I'm not taking this lightly Urana," Owen says, he reaches out but pulls his hand back quickly. "They pointed a freaking gun at you..."

"I know Owen," Urana lets out a small smile. "We have to be mature about it."

"You two are mature," Sasha points to the both of them. "But the rest of us aren't so uh, Brenton, let's go."

"Right behind ya," Brenton is already at the door with his shoes on.

"Owen and Urana are right," Ku raises an eyebrow at the others. "And this is Urana's way of handling this. Please respect that everyone."

Brenton sighs, but takes off his shoes and comes back into the house. He huffs out a cloud of smoke with his arms crossed and a pouty look on his face.

"Pfft, Brenton is a dragon!" Alex laughs.

"Nothing like dragon everyone down with you huh?" Ava grins and everyone groans.

But Urana laughs. For a moment, she feels light. Her laughter filling in with everyone else's laughter too.

As long as I have them...I'll eventually be okay, Urana knows. She didn't feel okay right now but maybe she could someday.

Someday...

--

Alex knocks on the door of Urana's room. A mumbled reply has him opening the door and looking around at the mess.

Urana is sitting on the bed and looks over at Alex with a forced smile.

"What's up?" She asks, putting away her phone. Then hastily wipes her eyes.

"You're looking at photos of them aren't you?" Alex guesses.

"...is that wrong...?"

"No, it's...unhealthy for you. I just..." Alex looks around and only finds pictures of her family plastered everywhere. "I'm sorry."

He runs out, tears streaming down his face.
