Harley
I'm half way into dreamland when my phone vibrates on the bedside table. Clumsily fumbling around my hand lands on the nuisance of a device.
Cody: Hey I'll pick you up at 6 on Saturday
Drowsily I slowly type up a response.
Harley: what should I wear?
Cody: comfortable but active
Cody: we'll be doing something strenuous ;)
Harley: and that is my cue to go back to sleep
Cody: aw don't be like that
Cody: I promise no more sexual innuendoes
I roll my eyes, I highly doubt that.
Harley: you sure bout that
Cody: okay maybe you're right, but I'll try
Cody: Besides you can't leave little ol' me by myself when I'm bored
Harley: hah I doubt you're alone, I bet you're at your house
Peering at the bright numbers on my phone I debate if Cody's worth precious hours of sleep.
Cody: busted
Knowing he's going to keep pestering me I continue conversing with him.
Before I know it I wake up to my mother banging on my door.
If she's up already that must mean... shoot I'm going to be so late. Again.
I really need to stop making this a habit.
Grimacing when I throw my warm cocoon blankets off I practically run to the bathroom. Switching the water in the shower I jump in right away, which of course I regret.
Why did my dumbass not think that through?
Yelping and jumping up and down I crank the handle to full heat. Darn you cold mornings.
Soon enough the frigid water turns scalding, but I manage to quickly shampoo without any burns. Throwing on a random pair of clothes I dearly hope they match as I have no time to check. Sprinting down the stairs I'm amazed at myself for not tripping and falling flat on my face.
Knowing there's no time for a lovely bowl of Cheerios to cheer up my morning I opt for something quicker. Two granola bars should suffice right?
A quick honk interrupts, snapping me back into speed mode. Dashing back up the stairs I grab my bag that I forgot to bring with me. I'm not the most efficient person you'll come across.
Drew honks again getting impatient.
"Harley get going!" My mom hollers from her room.
Running faster than I should I yell back. "Yeah yeah I'm going!"
Whipping the front door open I basically fall into Drew's car. Huffing a deep breath due to my lack of fitness capabilities I munch down on my breakfast.
"Someone woke up late?" My best friend driving teases.
"Shut up." I mumble through my food.
In about three minutes I've successfully inhaled both bars; leaving my stomach somewhat satisfied.
"You're lucky you have this great best friend who drives you to school, otherwise you'd always be late."
Pretending to be clueless I look around. "I can't find this best friend you're telling me about, please do point them out."
He smiles cheekily playing along. "You know, the cute one?"
"Oh!" I pretend that I've encountered such a great revelation that will make me the most famous person on the planet. "Wait, sorry I don't seem to know who you're talking about." I grin faking confusion.
He sighs shaking his head, his soft hazel eyes flit to mine for a second. "Ah what a shame, the stinker forgot about me already."
"I'm not a stinker!" I retort before realizing my mistake.
His loud laughter fills the car as the corners of his eyes crease. "So have you found this best friend of yours, the cute one?"
"Maybe." I open the car door swinging my backpack on.
Now that he mentioned it, his hair is looking rather nice today- wait, what the actual fuck.
I feel somebody bump my shoulder. "Why do you look so disgusted?"
I don't let my eyes stray from the hazel orbs looking back at me. "Becasue the best friend that I'm thinking about ain't cute."
Our conversation is cut to an end as we park and exit the vehicle. Woohoo let's go learn something totally useful.
Ally sidles up beside me, happily and energetic. "Harley is there a reason you look like you want to commit mass murder?"
"What if I do?" I ask with a deadpan face. So, I might be tired. Texting Cody until twelve thirty last night might not have been the best idea. Oh well, it's his fault.
"Oh no Drew!" Ally gasps dramatically. "What have you done to our sweet best friend?"
"Me?" He questions looking over his shoulder wearing an appalled expression. "Why are you blaming this on me?"
"You're the last one she was with. When I saw her she was perfectly normal." She states matter-of-factly.
"You know I'm right here right?" I grumble.
Stopping at our lockers Drew replies. "Well it had to have happened in between the two cause she was like this when I picked her up."
"I'm fine guys, just tired." I slam my locker shut for a third time as the stupid thing can never stay shut. I don't even need a lock on my door cause once I actually manage to close it, it doesn't open.
The three of us look up alarmed when we here some commotion down the hall. Investigating it we creep closer to find a freshman shaking like crazy staring at a not-so-happy Cody.
"S-sorry." The younger boy stutters seemingly petrified.
"You should be." Cody practically growls at him. It's been a while since he's harassed a kid, I wonder what his problem is.
Scrambling to pick up all his supplies the boy scurries away like a mouse. Though, Cody's heated glare probably wasn't making it any easier.
"You know," Ally starts. "Cody looks pretty tired too. And he seems snappy and murderous, just like Harley."
"Wow thanks." I say but it goes ignored.
"Wait!" Ally seems to catch on as she eyes me suspiciously. "Were you and Cody together last night?"
"No." I blurt quicker than I should have. I cave when Ally quirks her brow and increases her intensity in her eyes. She can be scary when she wants. "No, we weren't together, but we might have been texting a little while..."
"You guys were texting?" Drew asks with a disgusted look.
"A little?" Ally emphasizes ignoring our annoyed friend.
"Okay, so maybe until twelve thirty."
"No wonder you're tired!" She basically yells into the emptying hallways. "You never go to bed passed eleven!"
"Okay okay, stop yelling." I tug her to keep walking to our class.
The warning bell chimes saving me from further interrogation.
"You May be lucky now, but you won't be at lunch." I try to offer a small smile to calm her but Ally is already speeding to our chairs in the classroom.
