"Oh my goodness that's so cute!" She squeals loudly.
"I know right?" I say a few decibels quieter.
"It's just cheese." Drew shrugs indifferently.
"I know it's cheese," Ally reponds with a duh tone. "It's the gesture that's cute. That's the most important thing to a girl when you bring them on a date."
We continue walking through the groups of students left, making our way to the soccer field. Which is right beside the football field so I can watch Cody too.
Since it's a nicer day the three of us decided that we'd watch Drew's practice then grab something to eat.
Stepping outside there's a warm soft breeze blowing, almost making an illusion that spring is coming.
"Oh shoot, almost everyone is here already," Drew hikes his large duffle bag higher then takes off towards the change rooms. "See you guys later!"
Ally and I walk silently for a few minutes enjoying the spring like weather.
"I never realized you like Cody," Ally breaks the quietness, quirking an eyebrow.
"Neither did I." I chuckle a little. "This whole time I guess I had painted this image that he was a jerk, and a manwhore. But he's actually really nice. Did you know that he has a little sister?"
"What?" She asks surprised. "How come you failed to tell me this? What kind of best friend are you?"
I shrug my shoulders in a 'whoops' way. "Must've slipped my mind?"
We start climbing the stairs so that we get the highest seat. For some reason that's our favourite spot.
"So how old is she?"
"Six, but she's turning seven. This Saturday is actually her birthday party, which apparently Laney invited me to go to."
She giggles cooing. "Aww you'll be going to a party with a bunch of six year olds and Cody!"
We lapse into another silence as we watch the boys do their drills. Their coach is barking orders so loudly that even we can hear him from where we're sitting. I immediately spot Drew's mop of brown hair, which looks quite sweaty already.
"Is there anything else you forgot to mention about your lovely boyfriend?"
I smile thinking. "Um not really? I mean he has a super cool treehouse that he showed me."
"Damn." She sighs leaning against the the fence that's connected to the bleachers. "I need to find a rich girlfriend."
"Or you could become the rich girlfriend." I point out.
"True," she bops her head. "But that's quite a lot of work, not sure if I'm up for that you know?"
"Oh yes definitely." I laugh nodding my head.
I look over at the football field to find them practicing throws. All the players are paired up and stand quite far away from each other. I watch a ball sail high through the air before getting caught by Cody, who immediately whips it back.
"Cody might have a good throw, but I still think Drew's goes farther." Ally hums studying Cody too.
I can't help but agree. "Yeah, it's a shame Drew quit football."
