I'm trying to estimate how long this book will be and I realized I have absolutely no clue. Really got to plan writing better lol. My best guess at this point is sixty chapters but like I don't know.

Harley

"Seven, eight, nine- oh fuck." He mutters a few more profanities under his breath.

"Hand over the bills!" I cheerfully laugh at his expense.

He groans but counts out the money. It's only thirteen million dollars for landing on my most expensive piece of property.

"See," Ally points at me. "This is why I didn't want to play this game, Harley always wins."

"She would've won in Sorry too." Drew points out distractedly still counting the paper bills. Sucks for him, we don't have a modern version with plastic credit cards and a fancy calculator.

"What can I say?" My dad folds his hands on his lap and leans back with a proud sigh. "I've taught her well."

"Can you teach me next?" Ally huffs, most likely still bitter about being the first to go bankrupt.

Drew groans and stares at the pile he just counted. "I don't have enough. My properties won't cover it either."

"I guess you're out then too." I attempt to look sympathetic but inside I'm smirking.

"Yeah yeah, you won." He grumbles, his brown brow wrinkles a little as he faux frowns.

The reigning defending champion has once again quenched the title of being, the Monopoly queen.

We slowly pack everything back in order. Stacking all the bills and cards the pieces go into the box much faster than when they're played.

Before putting the games away I look towards my dad. "It's too bad mom didn't take a day off too."

"Yeah," he looks at the table with a thoughtful expression. "She actually seems to be working more, for rather long hours."

"Well that fancy fashion show is coming up." Ally pipes up, reminding us of the 'biggest event of the year' according to my mother.

"She was quite disappointed when her design was runner up last year, so I can imagine she's working double to win."

I leave them to chat while I pile the boxes back up in the cabinet. Just as I'm getting up I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket- it's so weird when your butt is vibrating.

Sliding it out I unlock my phone to find a text from Cody.

Cody: hey just letting you know I had fun last night, thanks again for listening

Smiling, I slowly walk back to the kitchen while typing up a response.

Harley: I did too. No problem I could tell you needed to get it off your shoulders

Looking around I furrow my eyebrows. "Where's dad?"

"He went to watch the football game." Drew answered.

We're aboug to go upstairs to my room when Ally's phone rings. Who even has sound on on their phones anymore?

"Helllllo?" Ally drawls out. "Uh huh, okay." She continues nodding her head as if the person on the line can see her. "Fine." She sighs reluctantly.

The minute she hangs up I look at her expectantly. "Who was it?"

"My dumbass brother." She rolls her eyes. "Sorry but I gotta go bail his annoying ass out."

"Wait did he get arrested for something?" Drew asks incredulously.

She scoffs. "He might as well have been, maybe then he'd actually learn something through his thick skull."

"Wait," I interject. "Why do you need to bail him? What's he got over you?"

"Um," she awkwardly laughs. "He somehow found out about that stealing incident and has been using that for black mail."

"Oh." I respond. "Did he say what he got himself into?"

"He was at a friend's house for a party and they were doing dugs. A neighbour or someone heard or smelled it and told them he called the police. So yeah gotta rush!" She quips racing towards my front door on a determined mission.

"Thank goodness we don't have siblings." Drew jokes walking up the stairs in front of me.

I laugh. "I know right? They seem like so much work."

Swinging my door open I don't bother closing it behind me; dad gets so engrossed in the games that he tunes everything out. I'm just about to ask what he wanted to do when he speaks up.

"Is that box the box that I think it is?" He stares incredulously at the mismatch blue and pink shoe box.

"The one and only." I grin.

"I didn't realize you still had this." He mutters picking it up and putting on my bed.

I snort, bouncing onto the bed to join him. "Neither did I until I looked in the back of my closet."

He opens the box and we survey the contents. When we were about eight we had just learned about time capsules in school. So naturally Ally, Drew, and I, all wanted to bury one too. Ally wanted to paint it pink, whereas Drew and I were voting blue. Hence the odd looking half painted shoebox. You may be wondering, if it's supposed to be a time capsule why is it still above ground buried in my closet and not the ground? Well, you see. My mom almost had a heart attack when she saw her daughter and her two friends with shovels in the backyard. She quickly told us to not dig any holes as she didn't want to mess up the grass; which had finally started growing after grubs destroyed it.

Pulling out a sparkly painted rock with glued on googly eyes I have to laugh. "Do you remember making these?"

Drew rummages around the cardboard box before producing the one he had made too. "Of course, how could I forget Rocky?"

My phone which is lying on top of my blankets buzzes again.

Cody: are you sure it wasn't just 'cause of my treehouse ;)

I roll my eyes letting my fingers fly over the keyboard.

Harley: well I mean now that you mention it

I deposit my phone back into the blanket-y world.

Drew chuckles as he skims through a card. "Look at this Valentine's Day card Ally got from someone."

Shuffling so I can peer over his shoulder I join him in his humour. "I still can't belive she had a crush on him." In her eight year old adolescence she hadn't realized she was swinging for the other team. When she had gotten a Valentine's Day care from the beloved Jeremy she was over the moon. It didn't matter that he had handed out the exact same cards to every other person in our class.

"You know Ally," Drew drops the red and pink card with the other stuff we've looked at. "She takes crushes very seriously."

After almost an hour of searching through our long lost treasure we've just about reached the bottom. There's now a small pile that has accumulated on my bed beside the box.

Spotting something that looks awfully familiar it takes me a second to realize what it is.

"Ew Drew did you seriously put a Kit Kat chocolate bar in here?"

He peers up through his dark lashes guiltily but there's a cheeky smile taking over. "Oops?"
