Hard to believe summer is almost over already, felt like it just started.

Harley

"No!" He yells angrily. "No it is not okay!"

"Drew-"

"Nobody should ever cheat on you!" He says quieter but with the same amount of conviction.

"I'm okay though," I stress the okay part. "I know it's your job as a friend to worry, but I'm alright."

Something flickers through his hazel eyes. "You're right, it's just my job as a friend."

Without another word he also storms out. Are these boys on their time of the month?

"Okay what was that?" I pin my gaze on Ally who was watching the whole exchange.

"Haha, he's just moody today." She attempts to cover for him.

"Come on," I sigh. "You are the one who let him come here,  I deserve a better reason than that."

This time she authentically snorts. "You think it would matter if I did or didn't let him come? Harley, that boy would move a fucking mountain or anything blocking his path to you no matter what."

I'm stunned into silence as all protests die at the end of my tongue. It's true

Drew has always been there for me since day one. Anything I struggled with mentally or physically he aided as best he could. I'm sure he took the brute of the many forces we've gone against.

"Sorry to leave you hanging too but I gotta head back home." Ally snaps me out of my thoughts. "You're welcome to come help me bake cupcakes for my cousins party though."

Wanting to just have some alone time I decline.

Walking her to the door I wave goodbye. Hearing the TV on in the living room I opt to go there to curb my onset loneliness. You need the right kind of company to feel lonely with.

My dad glances at me briefly before fixing on the screen projecting a classic HGTV Reno show. "Hey kiddo, why the glum face?"

I slump onto the large couch beside him relaxing into his side. "I got cheated on."

"Oh." He clearly wasn't expecting that answer. "Uh, do I need to shoot your boyfriend?"

"Ex," I correct. I may be upset but there's no excuse to go back to a cheater. If someone loves somebody fully and wholly they won't make a drunken mistake. Even in an intoxicated state their brain is overruled with thoughts of their significant other. Too bad those people don't exist.

I shrug my shoulders trying to portray that I'm alright. "I guess it just wasn't meant to be."

He throws a comforting arm over my shoulders and kisses my forehead. "You'll find your someone some day."

And that's how I spent the rest of my day. Cuddled up in my dad's embrace watching the property brothers flip houses. At least they're not hard on the eyes.

I must have dozed off into a peaceful slumber as the next thing I know I'm being nudged back to consciousness.

"Harley," I hear a faint faraway whisper. "There is a boy here to see you."

"You can tell him to fuck off." I mumble not really awake.

He chuckles deeply. "You are lucky your mother isn't home. Go meet the poor boy, he would like to apologize."
