Harley
"Harley, up now or you'll be late for school!"
What a wonderful alarm to wake me in the mornings.
"Yeah, yeah coming," I answer my mother half-heartedly.
Why did school have to start already?
Summer break is never long enough.
Shrugging my nice warm blankets off me I gradually go into my ensuite bathroom.
Perks of being an only child.
After a quick shower I do my usual routine of brushing teeth and trying to tame my hair. Deciding to keep it simple I leave my hair down.
Once I'm dressed and somewhat functioning like a normal person I head downstairs to the kitchen.
People always say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I'm not quite sure how though. It may be because I am never in the mood to make actually decent food. And perhaps eat cereal all of the time.
Nevertheless, I plop down with my bowl of cereal at the kitchen counter.
"Morning Harley, finally got up?" Glancing at the time on my phone I roll my eyes.
"Dad I still got fifteen minutes until Drew will pick me up." He just smiles and goes to make a coffee.
I would love to say that my family dog was sitting at my feet wanting my food but sadly that's never happening. My mom doesn't like dogs as she claims they are 'too messy'. It is slightly understandable coming from her since she works in fashion designing and dog hair isn't exactly the trend. But still, who wouldn't love to have a dog?
Placing my now finished bowl in the dishwasher I grab my backpack right as I hear the familiar honk.
Yelling a quick bye to my parents I slip on some shoes and grab a light jacket as it's still September.
Jogging down my front porch I open the passenger door to Andrew's Honda Civic.
"Drew!"
"Harls!"
We do our special handshake that we've had since we were five, which consisted of high fives and fist bumps with various other random things little kids could think of.
"We picking up Ally today?" Ally being our other best friend to complete our trio. My parents and Andrew's parents were best friends in school, automatically making us best friends. We met Ally in first grade and we bonded instantly.
"Yep," he says nodding his head while focusing on backing out of my driveway. "She'll be complaining about her brother again."
"Of course," I laugh. Ally and her brother have the typical love hate relationship. Her brother Tyson shares a car with her, except he is in university and usually won't leave at the same time, leaving Ally car-less.
I fiddle with the radio trying to find a decent song.
Despacito? Nah not in the mood.
Passenger's Let her go? No too sad, I'm already sad enough going to school.
Walk The Moon's Shut Up and Dance? That's a good pump up son-
"Stop it here!" I laugh a little at Drew's outburst, we have mostly the same taste in music.
