When We Met // Zach Dempsey

Missing?

SEASON 3 PARTS IN HERE!!

Since senior year was halfway through... I kind of wanted to come back to walk across a stage with Zach.

"Would it be a smart idea to go back?" I asked as I rocked Ava. "You should....It's your last year of high school, enjoy it while you can." I looked over at Hannah and just smiled a little. "Wish we could enjoy it together." I stood up and put Ava in her crib.

Seeing and talking to Hannah was driving me crazy. I usually see her when Zach either leaves for school or work... which made me feel even more crazier. I would love to talk to my doctor but I don't want Ava taken away... I also was afraid of not seeing Hannah again. It's comforting having her around..

  "Carmen, nice to see you again." Mr. Porter said. "You too." I just sat there not knowing how to feel. "How's the baby?" He asked. "She's good... I need to get to class." I shrugged then walked around him.

I heard he was moving to a different school next week because of him being on Hannah's tapes.

"Carmennn." I saw Jessica walking towards me. "Oh wow, hey." I smiled. "Welcome back." She said. "Thank you." We started walking together. "You're looking pretty great having a baby and all." We both laughed. "Thanks?" I looked at her weirdly.

Jessica and I walked down the hall towards Clay, Justin, Montgomery, and Zach talking.

"Hey guys." Jessica said. Everyone looked up and smiled. Clay was in a little shock. "You're back." Monte smiled.

I couldn't stand to look at him... Zach, Clay, and Justin still talking to him. "I saw pictures of Ava, she looks just like Zachy, all cute and shit." Justin laughed. I rolled my eyes and looked over at Zach just laughing.

"I needed to tell you guys something.." clay interrupted. "What?" Jessica said as she stepped a little closer to him.

Suddenly we're cut off by the front school doors opening of the two town sheriffs, including Alex's dad.

"What happened?" I asked confused. "Uh guys why are they coming towards us?" Zach asked. "Bryce is missing." Clay whispered as the officers walked up to us.

"Carmen Renolds?" One of the asked. "Um yes?" I was confused. I looked over at Clay then Zach. "We need to take you in for questioning. You will be excused from school." The officer said. "It's my first day back." I questioned. "What's going on." Zach got closer. You could tell he was really mad. "Step back." The officer said then walked me out the building.

Zach's POV

"What the hell is going on Clay??" I asked in panic. "Bryce is missing.." Clay whispered. "What if they think Carmen is a suspect?" Jessica asked. "That's probably what's happening." Clay said. "How do you know exactly?" Justin questioned. "Right! What the fuck is going on? Why would they think she's a suspect when he did all that to her??" I asked. "That's exactly why they'd question her." Justin realized why. "Shit." I whispered to myself.

...

"Hey Coach." I said as I walked into the gym with Justin. "What are we doing here? We don't have to be here for another two hours for practice?" Justin was confused. "I can't make it to practice." I explained.

"Dempsey! There's my team captain." Coach said as he walks towards us. "He's making me feel guilty already." I said and Justin just laughed at me. "I can't make it to practice tonight." I got out quickly. My coach just looked at me in disappointment. "And why's that?" He got attitude. "I don't know if Carmen is gonna be home tonight to watch Ava." I hoped it was a good excuse. "This is why you boys need to learn to keep your pants zipped. This is your last chance Dempsey. You're working extra hard tomorrow for me." He said as he shook his head and walked off.

"It went better then what I thought." Justin shrugged. I punched his shoulder as he laughed.

Carmen's POV

"Why exactly am I here?" I was worried. "Obviously you've heard Bryce has been missing for a bit." He said as he sat down. "I didn't hear that until today. It's my first day back." I was all confused on where this was going. "You're our first suspect in this case." He said which made my heart explode. "W-what?" I was terrified. "You and Bryce have ran into many problems and maybe you're just mad he won the court case." He pointed all odds at me. "Nooo, sir you got this all wrong. I mean I was mad but how would I get Bryce to end up missing." I didn't know where to start. "You've been out of school. Must have a lot of time on your hands." He shrugged. "Taking care of my new born baby?" I got kind of loud. "Calm down. We're just chatting." He stood up to pace around.

I finally got to go home over an hour later. They questioned me sooo much. I got to thinking I sounded guilty because of how nervous I was.

...

"What the hell happened?" Zach said and he picked me up. "I'm a suspect because Bryce is missing. Their number one suspect." I explained just starring blankly in front of me. "What the fuck." Zach hit the steering wheel. I just ignored him and turned around to tickle Ava in her car seat.

"So they think you're their number one suspect?" Clay asked. "I guess so. I can't go to jail or even prison. I can't leave Ava." I started freaking out. "Calm down. We're all suspects. Clay and I were questioned yesterday." Tony explained. I looked over at Justin and you could just tell he was nervous for Bryce... that was his savior. "I don't know what to do guys." Clay announced as we all sat in Zach's living room. "We need to figure it out then. We can't let innocent people get in trouble for this." Tony said. "None of us are innocent." Justin joined in...
