Demetri saw the house and the dead residents within and growled.
'No, it's too soon!' he thought as he leaned next to Abbi, his hand on her shoulder. Instinctively, Abbi turned away from her family's gaze, hiding her face in his chest, still crying.
"They're....they're g-gone..." she sobbed as he ran a hand through her hair.
"Ssssssshhhhh....calm down..." Demetri said soothingly.
"Gone....m-my family...." Abbi continued to sob.
"We'll find who did this, I swear." Demetri whispered in her ear. "And when we do...we'll get our revenge. We'll show them the pain it caused." he said in a soothing, hypnotic tone.
"....We will?" Abbi whispered, looking at him with teary eyes.
"Of course we will, if that is what you wish." Demetri cooed.
"Yes." was all Abbi said.
"Then let us go home for now." Demetri helped her up.
"....I want to bury them. I want to give them a proper goodbye." Abbi looked at him pleadingly.
"Of course my dear." Demetri nodded.
And so each person was buried, from oldest to youngest in a straight line, starting with Abbi's parents. Her father was first, his headstone reading "George Montgomery, March 1836-September 1893". Then Abbi's mother. "Burnedette Montgomery, June 1847-September 1893."
Thomas next. "September 1872-September 1893"
Ezekiel. "November 1873-September 1893"
Martha. "April 1874-September 1893"
Matthew. "July 1875-Spetember 1893"
Cecy. "July 1875-September 1893"
Abbi looked at each gravestone, eyes swelling with tears again. There was a crash of thunder, but she didn't notice.
"It should have been me..." she sobbed, hiding her face in her hands, then hiding it further, into Demetri's chest. "This is all my fault." she cried.
"How could you have known, love? You were with me. If this is anybody's fault, it's mine." Demetri said soothingly.
"But they were MY family...I should have been lookinh out for them."
"Don't worry...we'll get payback. I promise." Demetri kissed the top of her head.
"O-Okay." Abbi sniffled. "....Can we go home?" she looked at him.
"Certainly." Demetri said, and, rubbing her back, they walked back to his mansion.
