There was still the expression of a soldier captured on their faces. Their eyes were bright with determination and rage, and their weapons were drawn. King Masaru's mouth was open, cursing aloud; but Queen Mitsuki's was only agape, as if she was sucking in a breath before diving underwater. Even in the midst of death, her eyes were filled with life.
Bakugo didn't know what to think.
The intruders were long gone. Only the gods could know where they were, and that frustrated Bakugo more than anything. These people have the audacity to just show up, turn his parents to stone, and flee? Those cowards! He'd make them pay in the most painful way possible.
But right now, he was with his parents: his ferocious, brave, nearly dead parents. Even though he tried, he couldn't move. It was as if his own fear grew roots and vines out of the stone floors of the castle and tied his feet there, forcing him to look at his parents. At first glance, it seemed as if he did not care much for them. His traditional father was always pushing him to be better, and he may have accidentally picked up the habit of cursing every other word from his mother. He was always seen being aggressive and almost aloof, even with his parents around.
But there was no doubt in his being. Bakugo loved them.
From behind him, the other three stood, but none of them could move. Kirishima wanted to kneel, wanted to show his undying alliance to the king and queen, but he knew it was wrong. He only stood with his daggers tucked away in his belt. His eyes were locked onto the back of Bakugo's head, watching every little flinch or movement he made.
Kirishima and Bakugo have a powerful bond, despite what Bakugo might say. Bakugo wouldn't truly push the other away, but he would mutter a rude comment or two. Despite this, they trusted one another. Kirishima and Bakugo would sit on the edges of cliffs and Kirishima would talk of his family and whatnot while Bakugo listened. He even paid some attention to when Kirishima would ramble about Kaminari.
Seeing Bakugo in such a state... it worried Kirishima more than he would ever admit.
Kaminari too grew up with the others. He was the clumsier flier, but he never let Bakugo's negative comments and teases affect him. When he did learn to properly fly, the prince simply smirked. It wasn't close to Kirishima's jumps for joy and bone-breaking hugs, but it was so distinctly Bakugo.
And Midoriya...
He's never seen this side of Bakugo, the side that was so vulnerable. He wanted to reach out. He wanted to comfort his old friend. He wanted more than anything to help him.
But none of them could do anything. They just simply watched the prince stand before his parents.
"Leave," Bakugo mumbled.
No one refused.

Midoriya remained in the hospital wing with Kirishima, Kaminari, and Recovery Girl. His fingers were fidgeting with his white gloves anxiously as he sat on the floor. What could he think? He just witnessed history, but the worst kind. He watched as people died, fought off horrid beasts as the kingdom was crumbling, but he couldn't save everyone. Maybe if he was a little faster, he could have made it. Maybe if he fought harder against the girl in the forest, they could have been spared. Maybe...
