The pearl was as large as the earth stone, but it looked completely different. It looked smooth and polished, with a creamy white being its color. The symbol of water was imprinted in the pearl, and all around it, there was nothing but blue.
Midoriya closed his eyes, taking a deep breath through his nose. The magic created by the pearl was the polar opposite of what he felt inside the labyrinth. Instead of being frightened and panicked, he was filled with a sense of... serenity. He felt secure. Safe. Relieved.
Bakugou reached a hand down to cup his hand under one of the lilies. He lifted it from the water, letting several drops of water slip through his fingers. The flower was wet and smooth, with just a few droplets dangling on the pink and white petals.
He looked back up to the pearl itself, and slowly, he began to make his way forward.
"W-Wait..."
Bakugou stopped, turning his head to Midoriya, who was walking up by his side. "We're... we're supposed to just... take the power?"
Bakugou perked a brow. "What do you mean?"
"I-It's just..." Midoriya stuttered, "It seems wrong to just walk in and take the power. It's like if I just wandered into Draconia and stole something from you."
"You did."
"W-What did I steal?!"
"A shield," Bakugou muttered. "Don't think I didn't hear about you just randomly picking one up. Then you got it destroyed, dumbass."
Midoriya stammered, "I-I didn't mean to! It just burnt! Would you have rather had me be the one who took the hit?"
Bakugou scowled, shoving the flower in Midoriya's hands. "Fine. If you want to ask or plead to the god of water, so be it. Not like going through a siren's habitat and a cursed labyrinth didn't prove us worthy enough."
Midoriya hesitated, holding the lily close to his chest. He didn't expect Bakugou to just push it his way. At first, he thought it was rude, but then he realized something.
Bakugou was trusting him with yet another element.
Midoriya held the delicate flower up to his face as he stepped closer to the water pearl. The closer he got, the more he could feel the magic pouring out of it. The coolness of water raced through his skin, making him shiver, but it wasn't out of fear this time. It was almost like the pearl itself was greeting him.
He cupped the flower in both of his hands, thinking of what to say. How was he going to give this message? What was he even going to do?
But when he opened his mouth, the words flowed out like they were recited.
"God of water, forgive us for entering the one place you did not want us to," the swordsman started. "Forgive us for evading the sirens and solving the puzzle of the labyrinth. Forgive us for making it here...
