The story's inspiration started when I was playing Super Smash Bros. I was fighting in Gerudo Valley, and the song that played was so good that I had to look it up. It had a spicy, musical, and fantasy vibe that helped me start the story.
The curse was inspired by The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and the Pokémon Yveltal. In that specific Zelda game, the villain turned Zelda to stone to keep her from interrupting his plans. I wanted to put some reason behind the curse, so I looked to Yveltal. Yveltal can drain life force from someone, thus turning them into stone. I changed the life force to magic force and kept it.
The cure was also inspired by The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Link has to travel across Hyrule to gather elemental stones to free Zelda. I altered it a little, but it has the same core.
The name of the Todoroki kingdom is Emberium, coming from the word ember.
Foods were inspired by the food in The Seven Deadly Sins (it looks so good but I know it's so bad!) and food from Breath of the Wild.
The thrones in Draconia are made of the teeth of dragons that served the royal family. This means that when Kirishima dies, his teeth will be added to the king's throne.
Emberium was based off of Hyrule, and Draconia was completely made up.
Uraraka's house was based off Asra's shop (technically it's your shop too) from The Arcana and the witch's house in Brave.
Todoroki's castle was mainly based off the Schnee manor from RWBY.
I actually wrote the first quarter completely before publishing the prologue. I did this because I knew there would be complications later (cough cough MARCHING BAND cough cough) and I wanted chapters to always be ready for you.
Today (June 29) is Kaminari's birthday! Happy birthday, little Pikachu.
To anyone wondering, "Auth! How could people possibly be in a gay relationship when it was illegal in the medieval times?" Well, I can answer that question. This story is set in a place where people don't see it as 'gay' and 'straight'. They just see it as love. Hopefully our world will be like that one day.
So in BotW there's a side-quest about the descendent of Zelda's white stallion. Basically, there's a royal white horse just wandering around. I tamed the horse and named it Snow, so in a very confusing way, I have Todoroki's horse in my game.
