Midoriya woke up shortly after the sun had risen.
Yesterday had happened. Yesterday really happened... He actually had magic from the god of earth!
Not only that, but he made a new friend as well. He glanced over to the witch, looking at her as she slept. She was lounging on the dirt, her hair messy by her head. A strand of it was in her mouth, subjected to her drool. Midoriya almost laughed when he saw her in such a position.
The swordsman lazily lifted himself from his position on the soft grass. Sleep lingered warmly in his body, reminding him of the heat of the campfire he fell asleep with and the friends around him. His friends... As he gazed around the campsite to look at his friends, he noticed one was missing. Uraraka was asleep over by the tree... and Kirishima and Kaminari were sleeping on each other's shoulders...
Bakugo was missing. Sighing, Midoriya stood up and brushed the dirt off his pants. He didn't fall asleep somewhere else while keeping watch, did he?
Midoriya steppes away from the campsite to look for the prince. The sun was already up. Usually, Midoriya wanted to see the sunrise, but he never woke up soon enough to watch it.
A sweet melody from songbirds played in the swordsman's ears as he trekked through the forest. It was gorgeous, with verdant plants growing all around, consuming the land whole with green. Despite that, Midoriya couldn't sense the prince anywhere.
That was when he heard a voice calling to him. "Deku?"
Midoriya stopped in his spot. He turned his head to look all around, but he couldn't find the source of the voice. "Kacchan?" he asked. "Where are you?"
"Up here, you damn idiot," the prince replied. Midoriya didn't know what that meant, but he tilted his vision upward until he understood. From a large tree close to Midoriya, the silhouette of a prince was cast down. He was sitting on a large branch on top of the tree, his cloak dangling down like vines.
Midoriya sighed in relief. "Oh, there you are... I was worried that you kept watch and fell asleep out here."
"Uraraka said that no one was out here, so I didn't bother looking for an enemy. I slept," he responded.
Midoriya smiled. "Good." He then walked up to the tree, looking at the angle of the branches. They were all sprawled out randomly, some sturdy and some fragile. He lifted his leg and placed one on the closest branch.
"What are you doing?" Bakugo asked.
"Climbing the tree?" Midoriya responded like it was a question.
"Why?"
"Because I want to hang out with you," Midoriya answered, hoisting himself up to another branch. 'Why did Kacchan ask that?' Midoriya wondered to himself.
He placed his foot on a small branch and clung onto one above his head with his arms. "I wouldn't put my foot there," Bakugo said just as the branch underneath him snapped.
