Bakugo hated this.
No, hate is too nice of a word.
Bakugo detested, despised, abhorred, any word that describe this intense disgust would be perfect. He hated that half his kingdom was cursed. He hated that he couldn't be there to rule. He hated that he had to venture out of his home to go into the filthy, revolting other land.
What he hated most was the fact that Midoriya was there. Maybe he wouldn't mind as much if he closed his eyes or walked in front of him or anything that let him carry on without seeing him.
But that annoying voice just wouldn't shut up.
"Wait, that doesn't make any sense," said the swordsman. "How did you get dragon blood in you? I mean, I hope its not-"
Kaminari burst out laughing, but after a swift glare from Kirishima, he straightened up. The more responsible started with, "No. See, back when our land was just a scatter of clans, dragons and humans began to build up this... alliance. It was a trade. Our land for their protection. But after a while, some humans and dragons would start a friendship. We would use them for transportation, and we would lend them more of our things. Over the centuries, this simple business evolved into an unbreakable bond."
Bakugo snorted. Unbreakable bond, how cliche.
"That's so cool!" Midoriya exclaimed. "But that doesn't explain how you got dragon blood."
"And that's where our bond takes a turn," Kirishima continued. "We had such a big trust in one another that they lended us our magic. Humans would use that magic by consuming it or using it as medicine or whatnot, and the results started to appear in the new generation. Reports of people being born with dragon scales started showing up, and one day, a person just kinda transformed into a dragon."
Now Midoriya was puzzled. "W-What? How?"
"History isn't that clear, you know," Kaminari commented. "Ours is more of a mess of legends and old tales. The dragons that lived back then all say different things now, so it's getting harder and harder to get actual information."
Midoriya's eyes widened. "What? How long can dragons live?"
Kaminari was the factual one now. "Depends on the dragon. Also depends on if they're a shifter or not. Actual dragons can live for up to 300 years, royal dragons can live... well... longer than that... Not certain on the estimated number..."
"The longest a dragon's lived is 583 years," Kaminari interrupted, "But most royal dragons live around 500 years. We shifters also have a longer lifespan. Kaminari and I will probably live to reach around 150 years, but Bakugou might make it to 200!"
The prince scoffed and rolled his eyes.
Midoriya was amazed. His own world was filled with lives that were cut short due to sickness, starvation, or several other unknown causes. When magic users first emerged, though, they were encouraged to use their powers to heal. A lot of them did. Sadly, this did not guarantee a lifespan as large as the Draconics.
