The inside of the caverns contained more wonder and secrecy, and that only intrigued Midoriya more.
The group agreed to stick together and stay away from the halls located in the entrance room. Their mission was to get the element's magic and leave. As much as Midoriya wanted to explore the endless rooms and witness the secrets and splendor inside, he restrained himself.
But how marvelous these caverns were! There were so many paintings and statues in the long and twisted halls. Midoriya felt like he was striding through a temple. Each room was different from the last in the most wonderful of ways! One room would be small enough to squeeze ten people together, but another could hold an entire army! Better yet, each held more legends and stories than the last. The swordsman could find himself lost in the studies of corridors, reading every little inscription painted on the walls or trinkets, gazing at the statues of winged people, finding new miscellaneous items that could serve a purpose to the God of Air's natural intelligence-!
A cold wind breathed up his neck, forcing him out of his conceptions with a violent shiver. He suddenly remembered that this was not some cathedral or monastery, but rather, a large structure built into a fragile cliffside. Each step he took led down further into uncontrollable winds and endless magic. No, the pursuit of knowledge was not as important as the final piece to the cure. So Midoriya pushed his hunger for tuition away in pursuit of magic.
The room he was currently in was large, much like a church, with tall ceilings that pointed towards the heavens. The ceiling contained two smaller holes that could have served as doorways. Pillars held the room up high, but they were crumbled and broken in certain places. Some of them had entire chunks missing. Others had entire halves. It looked like some kind of fight occurred here, leaving the chambers to dwell in history.
There was a large set of double doors at the end of the room. Uraraka was the first to step up to it, but when she saw the large golden chains that blocked off the doors, she let out a sigh of disappointment. "It's locked," she muttered with sorrow, "but there's a keyhole here for the chains. I bet the key is around here somewhere."
"Think it's in one of those rooms up there?" Todoroki suggested as he pointed to the ceiling, where the irregularly shaped holes were.
Uraraka peered into the large holes, squinting so she could see the details inside. "It could be... but it's kinda dark in there, and we only have two light sources." She turned her head to face Bakugo but kept her body facing the other direction. "Bakugo, if it's alright, could I go up by myself and check it out?"
The prince hesitated for a moment, and Midoriya swore he could hear his thoughts. Bakugo was the most persistent out of everyone when it came to sticking together, and the group wouldn't fight back. It was nice to see him subtly caring for others.
