Midoriya cupped his hands and slid them under the cool water of the pond. Then, slowly, he lifted them and sipped the water of the pond from his hands, savoring the clear taste. He only brought one small canteen of water, and it had been empty for about two hours now. The swordsman looked up from the pond and scanned the scenery, carefully observing every inch of calmness it had ready for him. The sun was blocked out by dark clouds, but the pond was still alive with the scent of nature and sounds of lively animals.
Everything was perfect just the way it was. There was a strange smell in the air, but it was fresh and clean. Midoriya leaned back on his hands, feeling the soft grass under his smooth skin. His white gloves were placed by his side.
"Hey," he heard someone say, breaking him out of his thoughts. He looked up to see the red haired dragon shifter walking closer. "Mind if I sit?"
"Oh, go ahead," he responded, tapping the ground next to him. Kirishima fell on his knees and held out a hand to the pond. Midoriya stared at the other as he drank. He then positioned himself the same way Midoriya was and looked back to the natural artistry.
"So, where do you come from?" the dragon shifter asked suddenly.
Midoriya's bright green eyes turned to him. "O-Oh, well, I used to live pretty close to here." He reached over for to his bag and dug through it. Kirishima recognized the parchment the swordsman withdrew, and he leaned over to watch Midoriya's fingers trace the paper. "We're here, and I used to live riiiiight...." his hand trailed a little closer to their starting point, "here."
"Woah, you guys were close," the other admitted. "Did you see us? Dragon's shadows, I mean..."
"There were times when one would pass over," he started, but he held his hand up to hide a small giggle. "My mother would always shriek at the site, even though they weren't anywhere near us..."
Kirishima let out a small laugh. "Heh, that makes sense. Humans are so fragile..."
"Not all of us are..." Midoriya added. "Some are... really bad, at least, according to my mother. She was always so... protective. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was because of something that happened after my father... nevermind. Now isn't the time to be sentimental." He gazed at the water sorely, thinking about the past. But he straightened up and said, "Besides, it's not like she has a hard life. She lives in a good village with good people. She's a lot better now. That's all that matters."
"She sounds like a good person," the dragon shifter smiled.
"She is," Midoriya answered. "I wonder what she's doing now..."
Their conversation was interrupted by someone else. "Oi!" Midoriya and Kirishima turned their heads back to see Bakugo picking up his bag. Kaminari was by his side, but he wasn't the one speaking. "We're going."
Kaminari shot up. "W-Wait, already? But we haven't even been here for that long!" He winced and leaned against a tree. "And my feet are dying..."
Midoriya picked his gloves up, stood, and began to walk over to the others. As he put his gloves back on, he added, "Yeah, I'm with Kaminari. Just a few more minutes wouldn't hurt that mu-"
