There's been rumours going around that the school's nerd, Aaron Carpenter, has a crush on me. I can't deny he's pretty cute; but I have my eyes on another guy right now and I don't really have time for stressing over relationships, not with exams coming up. Me and him are friends but I never bring up the rumours, I don't know if I actually want to talk to him about that. I walked into the school gates, my eyes searching for anyone of my friends or even Y/B/F/N. I felt a tap on my shoulder, turning around to come face to face with Shawn, Aaron's best friend. "Hey Shawn." I said. We walked to first lesson together meeting up with our other friends, including Aaron who seemed more nervous than usual today. As we waited for the teacher to walk in, Shawn and Aaron were quietly talking and occasionally glancing at me. I ended up talking to the girl sat behind me. After a few boring lessons, I finally went down to the field for lunch. The whole group met there, except Aaron and Shawn. We all walked around until we found a good place to sit outside. Aaron and Shawn joined us a few minutes later. "Hey Y/N. Can I, um talk to you. But, like, by yourself?" Aaron stuttered. I nodded giving Shawn a look, Shawn just smiled and shrugged. "What's up?" I asked Aaron as soon as he stopped walking further. "Y/N, I really, really like you. I can't hold this in anymore. Will you be my girlfriend?" He said looking down at his feet. . I frowned a little once he looked up at me. I gave him a sympathetic look before I started talking. "Aaron I like you too but only as a friend. I really don't want to upset or hurt you, I really don't but we're just friends. I'm sorry." I said.
Aaron's P.O.V
Those words hurt me, but I couldn't really do anything about it. I just smiled and nodded "I understand." I said trying to hide my pain. "You'll find someone better than me. You really deserve better than a girl like me." She said hugging me. I doubt it, I thought. Hugging her back. I wanted to cry so bad but I stayed strong. She kissed my cheek, giving me a sad smile before walking away. I walked behind her, pouting at Shawn before going over to sit with him. He gave me a sad smile. I stayed quiet for the lunch, thinking about everything. It's gonna take a while to get over her but I'm gonna have to try.
