Song- "Control" by Halsey

The next day at noon, we arrived at the inn Galahad would be at. And I was going to get him to talk one way or another.

I barely slept the night before, but I was used to little sleep. Azriel stayed up with me despite my protests to get him to go to sleep. He instead sat behind me and pulled me back against him and just wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head on my shoulder, claiming he was only cold whenever I sat up on the side of the bed.

I walked into the bar with my puffy eyes and showy dress and sat down at a table and held a goblet of wine in my hands.

For the most part, I was ignored, but I knew from Lance how Galahad liked to find women- alone and sad- the sick bastard.

And I was very alone.

But I knew Azriel was nearby. Because the shadows he sent curled around my ankles under my dress and gently squeezed every now and then. If I didn't need my hands visible, the shadows would have been wrapped around my wrists and fingers, as if his hand was in mine to give it an encouraging squeeze every now and then.

He may have been a man of few words, but he showed me how much he loved me in more than just words. The shadows he sent to follow me everywhere when we were apart- even during training- laced around my wrists or ankles were a constant reminder of it.

And I clung to those shadows like a life line, because in a way they were.

I would have ended it decades ago if it weren't for him.

There weren't many people in the room, so I couldn't believe my luck when my target sat in front of me with his own tankard of ale. The Fae grinned at me, those perfect white teeth flashing. His red hair was cut now, closer to his head, but there was that long scar across his face, and there were those piercing brown eyes.

This was the Fae that showed up in my nightmares.

The shadows tightened around my ankles gently and I looked up at him and offered a small, shy smile, and made a show of wiping at my eyes with a napkin.

The glamour over me was strong. My wings and scars gone, I looked nothing like Adrianna Meridia.

"S-Sorry." I stumbled with my words.

"Tough day?" He asked and sipped from his tankard and watched me closely.

"Y-You could say that..." I said hoarsely. I moved my arms a bit more, and my forearms showed with the scars visible, these ones the only ones I would show. The glamour made them appear more red with spots of blood.

He frowned. "Who did that to you?" He reaches a hand out to me and I recoiled, bringing my arms around myself and I whispered,

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Then you don't have to." Galahad said. He paused and looked at me sadly. "Well, is that the reason you look so sad, lady?"

I merely shrugged and gave a little nod.
