....

(Devyn)
Gazing at my ceiling, waiting for my mother to yell for my name.

My fan spinning in circles at a high speed.

I barely got any sleep because today, I go back to school for the last time.

"Devyn! Wake up!"

I turned my head towards the doorway where my mother appeared. "Time to get up, hun."

"I'm up." I rise up and my messy bun falls to my shoulder.

She smiled and left my bedroom to go to my brother's room next to mine.

I climbed out of bed pulling my black and blue wavy hair out of a bun and closed my door.

"Emery is downstairs waiting for you." "I'll be down in a minute. I just need to get dressed."

I opened the drawer of my dresser, looking for something to wear.

After finding my jeans, I put my Rolling Stones band shirt on and tied the sleeves of my red flannel around my waist.

Next, I went into the bathroom to put my contacts in.

"Have you seen my Converse?" "Yea, they're in the laundry room."

Zed hands me my shoes and I smile, "You didn't have to grab them." "Well, I wanted to be nice."

He stops me from what I was doing. "I really do miss this." "I know. I've not been the greatest sister to you."

"It's a new start though. I miss this a lot. Waking up and seeing you. My twin anyway." I hugged him and hugged me tighter.

"I missed this too."

Zed handed me my bag and I put the strap over my shoulder and I headed downstairs.

"Not straightening your hair today?"

Emery was standing by the doorway waiting for me. "I just combed it. What's the point anyway?"

"Ready?" "Yea." I finished tying my high top Converse and my mom hands me an apple. "For the go."

She hugged me and kissed my head. "Have a great day at school."

"I will. I love you, Mom." "I love you, sweetie. I love you, handsome."

Zed blushes and walks out the door with Em and I.

"Do you guys want a ride? Emily wouldn't mind."

"No, enjoy her to yourself. I don't want to see you get all mushy and kissy." He chuckled, getting into the passenger side of the car.

Emery and I had our skateboards and we rode to school.

....

I finished my apple by the time we walked through the double doors. I tossed what's left in the trash can and Em and I made our way to our lockers.

Feeling stares from every corner of the entrance, I felt uneasy.

"Don't worry about them. They don't know a damn thing that happened. All that matters is that you are here and ready to fight back."

I smiled and grabbed her hand, locking ours together. "You are like the sister I've never had." "I know, I love you, D. I'm going to help you no matter what."
