Ch.44 - Forever Mine

I turned over on my side facing Xander's side feeling for him when I didn't feel his body in bed.

I raised up looking around the room waiting for him to walk in or come out of the bathroom.

Neither happened.

Now I'm very confused.

Last night was scary for us both, mainly him. I couldn't wrap my mind around that.

After moving the blankets off of me, I grabbed his white and black flannel putting it on without buttoning.

"Babe?"

I yelled for him but he wasn't in the apartment.

Eli was still with Mom so I was home alone.

I went back to our bedroom to grab my phone from my nightstand to find a hand written note and Xander's bank card.

"Um..."

I smiled to myself when I read his note, "I'm out running errands. Trust me, Baby. I'm fine. I have a special day for us planned. I will be gone all day so get dressed, wear something cute and comfortable. We're starting in a restaurant and ending on the beach. My card I left, you should get your nails and your hair done. I love you, princess. Thank you for everything you do for me. XOXO Xander <3

Tears streamed down my cheeks and I wiped them away.

"Okay. Breathe, Devyn. Breathe, girl."

I call Xander to let him know I was awake and got his note.

"Happy Anniversary, Baby girl. How did you sleep?"

"Happy Anniversary, Handsome. Good until I woke up and you weren't here again. This is the second time you did this. What are you up to?

I couldn't even speak or get a sentence to form.

"Um...nothing....I left my card on your nightstand so you can get your nails or whatever else done. Be ready by 5pm and do what my notes say. I'm serious."

"Oh...okay. Can I ask why?"

"Nope. It's a surprise. I'll see you tonight."

"Okay. I love you."

"I love you so much more, Baby girl."

I pulled into the store and I parked. I got out heading inside.

"Hey, Em."

"Hey. What are you up to?"

"Nothing much. I'm just spiraling a little."

"Why's that?"

I looked at the note again that was left for me, "Xander said he had a surprise planned and I'm excited. He just said to be ready by 5 and to dress cute and comfortable."

"Okay, I wouldn't be worried about anything. He's probably just making you feel special, D."

"Would you like to come with me to get my nails and hair done?"

"Of course. Hero is home so he can watch Bryce."

"Okay. I'll get ready and just come up when you're ready."

After I got off of the phone with Emery, I immediately started to get ready for the day.

....

"Hey, Em."

She hugged me and looked at me as I was only wearing Xander's flannel still.

"You aren't dressed yet?"
