Ch.45 - Don't Leave

I kept tossing and turning all night that I couldn't stay asleep.

I laid on my side facing Devyn as she slept.

Her eyes opened and she looked at me before stretching.

"Hi."

She smiled big, "Hi."

Devyn looked at me concerned, "What's wrong?"

"I can't sleep. I guess Mom's situation is bothering me and keeping me awake."

She kissed my nose lightly trying to comfort me knowing I tower over her regardless.

I rest my head above hers holding her close to me.

"What time is it?"

I turned to grab my phone and I faced her again letting her wrap her arms around me. I got into my phone to check my messages.

"It's 5am."

Derek: I'm on my way.
Me: For?

I waited a little while before I heard my phone go back off.

Derek: I'll let myself in.
Me: No. Do not do that.

I rolled my eyes because our front door opened and Derek walked in yelling loudly, "Bro! Where are you at?!"

Devyn looked at me mad, "I told him to not come in."

She rolled her eyes and I kissed her forehead, "Sorry, Baby girl."

Devyn stayed put and so did I. My brother made his way as I waited for him to.

"Oh. Woah."

Devyn was covered up so was I and Derek covered his eyes, "Dude, why aren't you ready?"

"I thought I told you I wasn't going."

"Why not?"

I exhaled looking at Devyn rolling my eyes, "I took today off and I was going to see Mom later."

"I thought we were now. You know? Spend the whole day with her?"

Derek sat on the bed without a care and I gave up at this point years ago as he always did this during high school.

"Why are you both....."

He dramatically gasped and Devyn looked at him concerned.

"You did the deed. Didn't you?"

"I proposed to her last night. I thought spending intimate time with my fiancée was necessary."

His jaw dropped, "Let me see."

"Dude, later. I'm exhausted. She's tired too. Can we talk later?"

"No. Now."

I looked at him and he seemed off, "Are you drunk?"

"Nope."

"High?"

"Low."

My eyebrows furrowed and I looked at Dev again, "Dude, you're high."

"I know."

"Give me the key."

Derek handed me the gold colored key to our apartment and I took it.

"I'm scared to go home and Cody sees me this way."

"So you come here where I'm trying to enjoy my morning with Dev?"

"Oh we both know your ass was having a nightmare over mom."

I exhaled, "Get the fuck out, asshole."

Derek walked out and I sat up.
