(Devyn)

Xander was back at the apartment with Eli as I ran errands today for Eli's first birthday.

As Xander kept our soon to be one year old busy, I ran through the store grabbing everything needed for cake, his own cake and other things.

I looked down at my Apple watch and Xander messaged me once.

I still had two hours to bake and get things started before people arrived to the park later on.

"Breathe, Devyn. Breathe," I said to myself.

"Just breathe," I stopped.

I went through the checkout line and the lady at checkout stared at me. I felt uncomfortable.

She looked about my age and I handed her the money as I gather my things from the bags.

"Here you are," she sounded unenthusiastic, "Have a great day."

Her fake smile disappeared and I rolled my eyes as I walked out to my SUV.

I got out to my SUV gathering all of my groceries in the back seat along with Eli's gifts.

My phone started to ring and it was Xander, "Hey, gorgeous. I was calling to check in on you."

"I'm fine, Baby. I just left the store. Heading home now."

"Okay, princess. I'll see you when you get here. I love you, beautiful."

"I love you more, handsome."

I hung up and pulled out of the parking lot heading back home to the apartment.

....

I brought in all of the groceries in one trip...yes one trip.

Xander jumped off the couch with Eli and he looked at me, "Let me put these away."

"Okay."

He grabbed Eli's gifts, hiding them away in our bedroom so he couldn't reach for them.

"I got him ready while you were out. I did too."

I grabbed everything out for cake and I looked at Xander then to Eli.

Xander was wearing his normal ripped blue skinny jeans, a gray T-shirt with his red Converse. Eli was wearing a cute little flannel with a white T-shirt underneath.

His shoes and pants matched Xander's.

"Okay. I'm going to bake the cake. You go put his gifts up."

"Are you sure," I asked looking at Xander.

"Yes. I'm the best cook we have in this apartment. Plus you already have a plan for the gifts already. I know you do."

I smiled rolling my eyes, "Fine. I do."

He kissed my lips softly before letting me go to our bedroom.

I started to gather all of Eli's new toys and clothes for his gifts later on.

I did each bag perfectly in order because that's how organized I am.

"The cake is in the oven, Babe."

"Okay. I'm still working on his gifts."

Xander walked in the bedroom watching what I was doing.

"Dada?!"

"Daddy calls."

I giggled and he grabbed Eli taking him to the living room. I was almost finished putting his bags together.
