I noticed that Riley looked at me differently after what happened yesterday. He didn't look at me like I was some kind of kicked puppy or sad lonely little kid or even a lost child. But there was something in the way he looked at me when I ran in front of Ben. Like something different I can't figure it out. Freaking weird. I don't like people people looking at me. Even with Mr.Stevens reading what I had so far on my life story I still couldn't forget how he looked at me in the nurses office. The bruise went down by a lot surprisingly. It was barely anything when I had help from blush and bronzer to cover it up. Mr.Stevens nods then looks up at me.
"You wrote this?" he asks and I nod. "Tess this is beautiful. Beautifully written an excellent piece of work how did you even..?" he says and trails off.
"It's not done" I say and he looks up "I want to add more" he smiles.
"Oh you will write more it's a great story" he says. "How did you even get an idea like this?" he asks and I fall silent.
"Um," I say and shrug. "It just came to me I guess" he nods with approval.
"I'm really proud of you. This has to be the best work I have seen from you yet" he says and I smile. I'm glad he loves my work. Very glad.
"The main character Lucy though" he says and lets out a deep breath "She reminds me of you a lot actually" and he looks at me. MY body feels cold.
"Thanks, I knew she was awesome" I say and he laughs. The bell rings which means class is starting and lunch was over. He turns my laptop to face me and I close it.
"Alright let's get ready for class" he says and I nod.
I aim for my desk but stop. I turn on my heels to look at him. "Do you mind if I stop by my locker? I came straight after leaving lunch I left my books there" I say. He smiles and shakes his head. He knows me too well. He points to the door.
"Sure go ahead but don't be late" he says and I laugh.
"Promise I won't" I say and walk out.
When I come back into the classroom everyone has already poured in. Desks rustling and moving as everyone sits and gathers their things. Since I was the last one in I close the class room door with a click and sigh. I notice my favorite seat is taken. My heart sinks and I look around. Then I notice just about every seat is taken. I was usually first in class so I never had a problem finding a seat. Now I was on the outside. Mr.Stevens was writing on the board. Had he noticed me lingering around he would have said something. I look around as everyone begins to sit.
"Tess!" someone says from across the room and I look over. It was Riley. He noticed me standing oh great. He gestures to the seat next to him. "There's an empty seat here" he says.
I smile softly and walk over.
Um...I don't think there should be butterflies in my stomach like this. Its not normal.
Mr.Stevens looks behinds him confused for a moment and his eyes find me. They give me a look with a funny smile and I smirk annoyed at him. He raises his eyebrows and I bite back a laugh. He presses his lips together and faces the board again. I smile a little and look down to shake my head. I knew exactly what he was thinking. Could this teacher be anymore awesome? I wish he were my dad.
"Thanks" I say and sit down he smiles.
"Sure it just bothers me how you're always in the back secluded from everyone" he says. I laugh and take out my books.
"Really?" I ask and he nods as if he's seriously but still smiles.
"Yes! And its irritating!" I laugh unable to contain it.
