As lunch hour was close to an end, I picked up my bag and started to walk out of the cafeteria. I was walking with Ryder and Luke as they talked about some soccer stuff. Kyra, Tristan, and Kade were behind us, walking with Theo and River. A few minutes passed before Theo jogged up to my side, a big grin on his face. Luke immediately ditched whatever it was he was discussing with Ryder and turned to look at him, suspicious.

"What class do you have now?" he quizzed, hitching his bag up high over his shoulder.

"History, with Ms. Belle. " Again before I could answer him, Luke replied coldly, glaring at his shoes. Okay, this was getting a little tiring.

"Great," Theo announced, "I have the same class."

Awesome!

In a classroom with the ever-energetic Theo and suddenly grumpy Luke. Rolling my eyes internally, I silently walked through the hallway to our History class. Luke was grumpily walking on my one side while Theo happily walked on my other. I clasped my fingers around the strap of my bag tightly and fiddled with it, not knowing what to do to erase the tension in the air. I couldn't even figure out the reason for it.

"Caroline!"

I groaned. No, not this. Not now. I already had enough to take care of. I thought my quota for today's trouble was already over. I guess not. I leaned over towards Luke who was already looking behind him with a grim look on his face. "Don't tell me it's Axel."

"Then that'd be a lie," he grumbled.

From down the hallway Axel ran over to where I stood. When he reached where I stood, he bent down slightly. Placing both his hands on his knees he tried to catch his breath. A drop of sweat rolled down the side of his neck and I gulped. I used to love kissing him on the side of his neck, the exact place where the sweat was now collecting. My hands twitched to touch his skin. To run my fingers over his neck, feel his sweat. It should be gross, but oddly enough, it didn't gross me out. To me it was sexy.

I groaned internally, shaking my head. I shouldn't be having these thoughts about the boy who had broken my heart not long ago. Too bad I did. Too bad I couldn't just switch off my emotions.

Theo looked at Axel weirdly, eyebrows pulling together in confusion. "Who is this guy?"

"Axel."

Axel grinned looking up at me before his eyes flickered to Theo. He pointed his finger between him and me, a big grin on his face. "My girl."

"Oh," Theo blinked.

"Not your girl," I snapped, the short attraction I had felt for him disappearing into thin air, "What do you want Axel?"

Axel blinked, still trying to get his breathing under control, "Give me a minute, sweet bottom."

"Ugh!"

"Man, you have gotten out of shape," Luke said, sighing. Perhaps as tired of waiting for Axel to gather himself as I was.

Either Axel didn't get the sarcasm in his tone or he just didn't care. He stood up straighter, a warm smile pulling up at his lips, "I have," he agreed, "And that's why I'm asking Care to take me back."

"What does Caroline taking you back have anything to do with you getting back into shape?"

Axel smirked, and I know whatever is going to come out of his mouth now was only meant to annoy Luke – and he didn't disappoint. He smirked. "You don't want to know."

Luke's body stiffened and he took a threatening step forward, eyes narrowed, jaws clenched. Placing a hand over his chest, I shook my head, begging him with my eyes to not do anything stupid. "Axel, if you're only here to taunt my best friend – you should just go."
