On Christmas Eve, the entire house was decorated with colors. The air smelled of something warm and cinnamon. All thanks to Cady, for the first time in years, this house was filled with what every house should be filled with, every holiday season – Happiness. All my years of living in this house, and never have I ever seen it so alive with joy.
Drew and Weston brought home the perfect Christmas tree a couple of days ago and my siblings and I all helped decorating it. It now stood proudly in the middle of the living room, all our gifts wrapped and arranged under the tree neatly.
As I sat on the couch in the living room, watching the twinkling lights decorating the Christmas tree, a steaming cup of hot chocolate in my hand, I couldn't help but remember what Weston and I had discussed when we went to the mall to purchase some last minute Christmas gifts.
"I'm telling you, Care," he huffed, giving me a look, "It's three days before Christmas Eve, I don't think there would be that many shops open today."
"On the contrary, all shops will be open," I reassured him as we entered the mall. He was only grumbling because I brought him along with me against his will. I threatened to drop all his clothes into the swimming pool if he didn't go to the mall with me.
Weston huffed. "What's so important that you had to drag me away from Wii?" he asked, turning to his side to glare at me, "Ethan and I were finally figuring out how to cross that one tricky part"
"Well, I kind of want your help to buy Cady's gift," I sighed, my shoulders dropping in defeat, "I've been trying to figure out what to get her, but couldn't come up with a good one so far. You're her brother, you'd know what she liked, help me."
"Get her a bracelet, or a sock, or even a headband; she loves those," he said quickly, "See! That was easy. Shall I leave now?"
"You may not," my eyes narrowed and I glared at him, "We're not leaving until we find something good for her."
"Oh, come on! You're torturing me," he grumbled, "Like pulling my nails out, chopping off my toes level torture."
A passerby gave Weston a look. She looked absolutely horrified at what she had heard and I sighed, shaking my head, "That's quite the show you are putting there," raising my eyebrows at him teasingly, I pulled him along, "You are a drama queen, has anyone told you that?"
"Drama king, maybe" he corrected, glaring at me, "And I'm not complaining because I don't want to be here, trust me, I just don't know what I'm doing here with you when I could be in my room, playing videogames with Ethan."
"Oh, please stop. I need you to concentrate here, West. I need your help finding the perfect gift for Cady."
"How am I going to help you with that?" and there he went again with his incessant whining.
"Stop whining, seriously, it doesn't suit you."
After about half an hour of him whining and me dragging him around, we were able to find a decent enough gift for Cady. It was a rose gold strap watch that, according to Weston, she's always wanted. Until then Weston who had been whining about wanting to go back home and continue playing Wii suddenly changed his tune and he now wanted to eat.
Rolling my eyes at him, I followed after him as he quickly walked towards the food court. After ordering a large cheese pizza and a drink each, we sat at one of the tables. My mind was elsewhere as we ate. I was thinking if I had got all the gifts I needed to. Weston on the other hand looked like he could care less about thinking anything, he evidently thought only about his food.
"So," he picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth slightly. The little bit of cheese he'd had on his cheek came off in the napkin, "What happened with Luke? You guys talked about your feelings yet?"
