Damn nostalgia.
And the way it creeps into your mind.
And the way it causes this strong thudding in your heart.
What makes nostalgia so surreal and heart shaking, is the fact that it wraps up so many emotions into one.
You can recall one memory where it includes pain, humor, good times, hurtful moments and they all rush through you making it so overwhelmimg.
Nostalgia, no matter how rarely we experience it, it's probably the strongest feeling to be a part of our lives.
What triggers it though, these are the scary parts. Walking on an empty street at night with the cold breeze brushing your body, and then a certain memory makes your chest feel heavy as everything plays in your mind. Almost like a video that was pressed play and now you can't pause it
Sometimes though, Nostalgia is an escape from whatever's going on in your life right now. Maybe an escape from a relationship that has gone bad, and you look back at all the times that it felt good.
Songs, movies, books, empty places, old houses, even thunderstorms, all of these are gateways to a whirlwind of emotions.
It might be weird for some of you, but sometimes I fall so deep into old memories just by watching my younger sister sleep. By hearing her soft breathing and holding her small warm hand.
The little things I guess, they always seem to matter the most.
