You ever look back at all the times you've had this perfect moment with someone, you both sat down and you made promises? So many promises about staying forever in touch, about never keeping anything from each other, about giving our all to each other.
Stupid stupid promises.
So many promises that you promised each other, and you never realize that you're still young. That you're still at the start line of your life. That people change.
People change so overwhelmingly and drastically and we never want to believe that that person who is currently our entire world will someday change. We never want to know how easily trust could be broken yet how unbelievably painful it is.
Promises are the reason heartbreak exists, because when you tell someone that you love them, you're promising them so many things. You're promising them that you'll give them your all, that you'll keep them safe, that you'll never let them down and will forever hold their heart with tenderness and care.
So giving that promise to someone at such a young age isn't exactly the smartest move, because at some point one of the two will be heartbroken, and heartbreak is such a deep scarring feeling.
I know I shouldn't be so bitter about this topic, but promises are made to be broken, aren't they?
