You know how people say that you shouldn't regret what you've done in the past because it shaped you to the better human being that you are today?
I think that's not as true as we really want it to be.
In the end, it's relative, and not at all generalized.
I guess I'm being subjective about it, but when am I not?
The thing is, what if I don't like the way I am today? What if my past actions and decisions that I've done made me this way, but I don't like who I am in the present.
And I regret it.
Obviously, regret never leads anywhere, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't feel it. It doesn't mean that talking about how much you regret doing this or that is some kind of sin.
It just means that it's a sucky feeling that we have to bear with for a while, until new actions and decisions are made, and you forget about any regrets from earlier.
And tell yourself you'll worry about them later, but the truth is you forget about them, because new regrets will replace them.
That's right.
No matter how many times you think, 'this time I'm so going to get it right, everything will be fine', something has to go wrong,
And frankly you wouldn't be human if everything plays out perfectly.
So yeah, here's news to you, a thing that people are often scared to say.
It's okay to regret the things that happened. It's okay to feel bad about them, just as long as it doesn't last longer than it should.
