When Serah stopped the car, Sam was already waiting for them in front of the bunker.
"You've got to be kidding me," he yelled as he opened her door. "I told you that you were grounded."
"Woah, Woah," Dean said, putting his arm in front of his niece. "I told her to come."
"Well, I told you that as well!"
Serah sunk into her seat. Regret settled in as Sam and Dean kept yelling at each other.
"She's 17, Dean! She can't drive yet!"
"Yeah, she's 17! It's about time she learns it."
Serah had enough. She pushed Sam aside, stepped out of the car and approached the bunker.
"We're not done here yet," her dad yelled.
"I am," she replied and pushed open the door, leaving the men alone.
Gabriel was sitting on the large table and when he saw his daughter, he jumped up and basically ran to her. "Kiddo, we were so worried," he said and hugged her tight.
"I'm sorry," Serah mumbled. "I was with Dean."
Gabe smiled softly. "What did you two do?" He sat back down at the table and Serah did the same. She talked about her driving lesson and about what Dean told her about Adam. Gabriel listened patiently and smiled from time to time.
"He told you about Adam?"
Serah turned around and watched her dad. "Yeah."
"We should probably try to get him out of there," Sam sighed. He dropped on the chair next to Gabe. For a while, they talked until the rustling of wings caught their attention. A woman had appeared behind them. Her arms were crossed in front of her chest, cherry red lips formed into a displeased frown.
"You Winchesters are nothing but trouble."
Sam furrowed his brows. "Anael?"
"Heaven is being overrun by angels that were allegedly dead. I don't know what you did, but you better fix it."
Serah cleared her throat. "I'll fox it eventually. I can't go to heaven. Send them my way."
Gabe elbowed her. "Stop it."
Anael watched down on her. "Who's this?"
"My daughter," Gabriel said.
"How isn't she dead?"
Serah laughed. "Because I am more powerful than you and if I wanted, I could kill you."
"Serah!" Sam watched her madly. "I thought we talked about threatening people."
Gabriel sighed. "Anael, it's the Empty," he explained her initial problem.
"Oh, I'm aware of that, considering they all look like a leviathan exploded over them."
Serah crossed her arms. "Really, just send them to me. I can handle this."
"No, you won't handle this." Sam watched her. "We fought against angels and they're not as easy as you think they are."
"I literally destroyed Michael with a flick of my wrist and you think I can't handle angels? Trust me, dad, they wouldn't be my first fight."
The door interrupted them. Dean joined them, seemingly confused. "What's Anael doing here?"
"First of all, rude," the angel comments putting her hands on her hips.
"Secondly, she's mad the Empty is overrunning heaven and she is too incompetent to fix it."
"Serah, I swear to God, if you don't shut your mouth now I will-"
Gabriel stared Sam down. "Are you threatening our daughter?"
"You know what?" Serah watched the men. "Now that you mentioned him, God might be able to fix this."
Anael laughed. "He doesn't care, kid."
"I hate to agree with her," Dean sighed. "But Chuck doesn't care. He's been gone since 2016."
"I'd be gone if we had an apocalypse every other year," Serah mumbled. "Anyway. I'll go now and text my boyfriend."
"Boyfriend?" Sam asked.
Serah cursed herself. "Is it too late to say 'no'?"
Immediately, Sam and Dean asked her out. Question after question and not a single answer. Serah sighed and tried to walk past her dad and uncle, but Sam grabbed her arm. "We asked you something."
"Sam!" Gabriel hit his hand. "Just stop it."
Serah blushed and walked to her room. She closed the door and took a deep breath. She wanted to tell them about Nate, but not now. Not like this. They weren't even a real couple.
"Serah." Gabe knocked on the door. "Can I come in?"
She opened the door and hugged him tightly.
"It's okay," Gabe mumbled. "They're a bit blunt. I'll have a talk with Sam. I promise."
The girl nodded and hid her face in the crook of his neck. "His name is Nathan."
Gabe smiled. "Nathan, huh?"
It took her a while until she calmed down. Gabriel brushed her back, right between her wings. It felt like he knew exactly what to do.
"Did you take care of kids a lot?"
"Maybe a little," he chuckled. "Mostly in Heaven."
"That's cute." She watched her dad and kissed his cheek. "Thank you."
"Anything for my princess." He smiled at her. "And also, you're not grounded. Enjoy your free time."
Serah smiled back. "Thank you."
"But no angel fighting."
"Dad."
"No," he looked at her sternly. "We try to solve this peacefully, okay? No dead angels."
Serah sighed. "Fine. I promise." She chewed on her lip. "But if they try to kill me, I defend myself."
Gabe smiled and kissed her forehead. "I gotta talk to your dad now. Love you, kiddo." He closed the door and left Serah in her room. She dropped on the bed and took her phone to text her boyfriend.
