It was a quiet and yet rainy evening. Dead silence aside from the small droplets hitting the ground. Black on black across the people.
"Daddy." Tedy looked up to her father, small tears glistening in her eyes. "Why aren't uncle Sammy and uncle Gabe here?"
"Uncle Sammy, he..." Dean took a deep breath before picking her up. "He's where the angels live... But I don't know where uncle Gabe is."
"I can't believe he didn't come." Serah brushed the wet hair out of her face and leaned against Eliot's chest. "He didn't even show up to his husband's funeral."
Becky put a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry he didn't... And I apologize Chuck didn't show up either. He didn't even tell me why he just..." She looked down. "I'm so sorry."
Millie and Jess had been quiet all day. Finally, after hours of silence, Jess cleared her throat. "When I... I joked about outliving him by a landslide... This is not what I wanted." It was like a dam breaking when she broke into tears, falling into Millie's arms. Quietly, she lifted her head to meet John's and Mary's eyes. "I'm sorry," she said. "I can't even imagine what it's like to lose your child..."
"We are all mourning," Mary said, throat tight from crying. "You knew him way better than we ever could have. Of course, it hurts for you too."
Dean shook his head at them. "I can't believe he's... Cas, I-..." He tilted his head to the side. "Did you any luck reaching Gabriel?"
"Wherever he is, he doesn't pick up the phone." Cas locked their fingers. "Are you okay?"
"I- I'm not sure yet..." He watched over at Adam and Samandriel, quietly standing beside them. "Are you two alright?"
Adam sighed. "I don't... We didn't know him that well... But it hurts still. He was such a good person, he didn't deserve this."
"I wish I could have helped," Samandriel said. "Maybe I could have helped."
"None of us could've," Cas said. "There was nothing left to do... All we can do is live up to our promises and make him proud.
Dean swallowed hard. "Pumpkin, is there anything that you want to tell Uncle Sammy, in case he can hear you?"
"I miss you," she mumbled. "Please come back."Sam groaned as he stretched his back. "You know what's the one good thing about arguing?" he asked.
"The sex afterwards?" Gabriel asked.
"You bet." Sam chuckled and pressed a kiss onto Gabe's lips. "Man, that dream I had earlier... Still shakes me up."
"The death dream?" Gabe sat up. "I know what will helps." He reached for his boxers and put them on. "Pancakes, maple syrup, coffee black two sugar."
"God, I love you." He pulled Gabe back into bed and kissed him. "Don't take too long."
Gabe laughed and put the rest of his clothes on. "I'll be back in a second." He walked out the door and closed it behind his back. He leaned against the glossy-white door.
"When I said I owe you one..." Chuck stepped into the hallway. "Is this what you wanted?"
"Yes," Gabriel said. He pulled on the gray suit jacket he now was wearing. "Dad..."
"I said I owe you one. I keep my promises." He shook his head. "I have some personal business to do. I'll be back in a few hours."
Gabriel nodded. Then, Chuck disappeared."Where have you been?" Becky still wore the black dress she had bought the same day. "We all missed you there."
"I had important things to do." Chuck sat down in front of his laptop.
Becky crossed her arms. "More important than your son-in-law's funeral?"
"Yes." He put on his glasses and stared at the text document.
"Gabriel hasn't been there either," Becky said.
"I know."
"What do you mean you know? You didn't do anything about it?"
Chuck sighed. "It's not that easy. I can't make them do things just like that."
"That's wrong!" Becky said. "You're God. You wrote their story!" She shook her head. "Why don't you write them a happy ending?"
"I could," Chuck admitted, closing the laptop shut. "But that's a story for another day."This is an Author's Note, the first and last one.
I want to thank you for sticking with me through these hundred chapters, learned to love or hate these characters I brought life too. It's been quite a journey, with highs and lows.
At the time of writing this, episode 15x02 is airing this evening and I cannot believe this amazing show is coming to an end, just like this story is. No worries, though. The Winchesters' story isn't over quite yet. Even though we will be following different main characters, Grace and Soul will have a sequel, just like Chuck announced. It's working title is Car Ride and follows the story of Dallas and Sonora Bailey, that leads the two into an adventure intertwined with the Winchesters' future. We're going to be revisiting old characters and exploring new ones.
The story is up NOW!!!! Check it out please.
This is it, for now.
Thank you for reading.
Love, Stephanie, aka NotDeadTrickster
