Sam closed the front door and went downstairs. He and Dean were covered in blood, some of it was their own. Jess and Gabe sat on the table, some Chinese takeaway in front of them.
"Hey boys," Jess smiled and turned to them. "I'm digging the dirty look."
Dean chuckled. "Well, good one of us does." He dropped on one of the chairs, Sam next to him.
"You should take a shower," Jess suggested. "If you need help, I'd be happy to join." She winked, making Sam blush.
He looked over to Gabe, expecting to be hit by jealousy in its purest form. Instead, Gabriel didn't even bat an eye, peacefully eating his noodles.
"Hey, Sammy-boy." Jess snapped her fingers in front of the hunter's face. "Major heart-eyes?"
"Happens, when you're in a relationship," Sam mumbled.
"That's cute," Jess giggled. "But seriously, take a shower. You smell like me once a month."
Sam got up. "That's disgusting. I'll go to take a shower. You enjoy your dinner."
"Sam, wait," Gabe said, following the younger Winchester down the hallway.
"Yes?"
The archangel clung to his arm. "How was your day?"
Sam chuckled. "Better seeing you. And better not nearly dying." He opened the bathroom door and went inside.
"Nearly dying?" Gabe tugged on Sam's shirt, trying to take it off. "Are you hurt?"
"Slow down," Sam laughed. "I've been worse." He took Gabe's hands, put them down and unbuttoned his shirt.
"Did it hurt you?" Gabe asked worriedly.
"Of course it did." Sam took off his shirt revealing a wound on his chest. "It's not that bad, honestly. Just a superficial wound."
Gabriel frowned. "Let me heal it." He put his hand on Sam's chest and the wound disappeared.
"Pretty sure you don't have to touch me to heal me."
"Pretty sure I'd never pass on an opportunity to touch you." The archangel smirked.
"You're a perv," Sam laughed.
"You love it, though." Softly, Gabe pulled down Sam's face and pressed their lips together.
The feeling of Gabe's hand on Sam's bare skin made him feel like he had never left for a hunt. Like he had stayed with Gabe and Serah all day and now he went for a shower just to finish off the day.
He felt Gabriel's breath on his lips when he backed off. With hesitation, Sam bit his lip. "Wanna join me?"
"I hoped you'd ask," Gabe quickly replied. He unbuckled Sam's belt and pulled down his jeans.
Sam stripped off Gabriel's clothing. It was an unfamiliar feeling. Usually, Sam knew what he was doing concerning being intimate, but Gabriel made him go all flustered and he lost the track of his thoughts. All he could think about was Gabriel.
Gladly, the archangel didn't shy away from taking the lead, stepping into the shower first, Sam close behind him. He was used to Gabe's hand all over his body. Gabe loved to get his hand everywhere he could. And Sam loved it too.Sam wrapped a towel around his waist. When he loomed over to Gabriel, the archangel looked frustrated. "You good?" Sam asked.
"Wings." Gabriel grabbed a towel and wrapped it around himself as Sam did. "They're heavy when they are wet." He left the bathroom and went to their bedroom, Sam followed closely.
"Wish I could help," Sam smiled and closed the door. "But I can't even see them." Sam turned around and dressed. From behind, he heard disgruntled noises. When he looked over his shoulder, Gabriel sat on the bed fully dressed in Sam's clothes, a pair of glasses lying in front of him.
"What's that?" Sam asked stepping closer.
"Put'em on," Gabe said, holding the glasses up.
Sam pulled up an eyebrow, but he followed his directions. He recognized the blue-gray vision - glasses burnt with holy oil. It was a monochromatic picture, except for one detail. Gabriel was still sitting on the bed but on his back, a pair of large golden wings glowed up the scenery.
Sam's jaw dropped. He was amazed by the golden sheen. A bright smile formed on Gabriel's lips, a smile not even close to being as bright as his wings.
"Wow," Sam breathed. The longer he watched, the more he noticed. He noticed all the feathers sticking into different directions, he noticed the golden glow wasn't just golden. It was more of a golden blue, a warmish cold hue. Sam stepped closer and sat down opposite to the archangel. Gabriel reached and took the glasses from him.
"Wow," Sam repeated.
Gabriel giggled. "First time you've seen a pair of wings?" He laughed and put the glasses aside.
"Yes, actually." Sam moved closer.
"Really?"
Sam nodded. "Glad you were my first." He pressed a cheek on Gabe's cheek and slid under the blanket. "I promised Serah lunch tomorrow so I'll be out with her. And the day after that is all yours, I promise."
Gabe put his head on the hunter's chest. "Sounds fantastic."
Sam smiled and turned off the lamp on his nightstand. In the darkness, there were only the sounds of Gabriel's slow breathing that soon turned into soft snoring. In the background, he faintly heard Dean's voice telling their experiences of that day.
The sound of home.
