Serah watched the building in front of them. "This is exciting. I'm so happy for you."
"Thanks, kiddo." Dean petted her head and went inside, Cas and Serah following.
An older woman greeted them. "Good day. How can I help you?"
Dean watched Cas and smiled. "We, uhm..." His cheeks turned pink and he looked down.
"My uncle is a bit shy," Serah smiled. "They've been together for a while and after seeing my dads raise me they wanted to expand their own family." She turned to Dean and smiled. "Right, Uncle Dean?"
"Yes," Dean said. "Exactly."
"Don't worry," the woman smiled. "A lot of people are nervous. Adopting a child is a big step in any relationship."
"Well, my uncles had some training with me and my cousin. We took him in after my uncle and aunt passed away." Serah watched the others and smiled.
"That sounds perfect," the woman said. "Here, we want to assure that the children come into a good and safe household."
"Oh, we understand." Dean reached for Cas' hand. "I had a less than desirable childhood myself and we really want to make the kid happy."
The woman smiled. "That is such a good intention. Either way, before we even start, would you let me take a look at your house? I would like to see whether a child would be safe and comfortable in your place."
Dean and Cas watched each other, knowing the bunker was the opposite of a child's home.
"Sure," Serah smiled. "No problem."
Cas watched his niece. "Serah, are you out of your mind?" he asked, using Enochian so the woman wouldn't understand.
"Trust me," Serah replied in the same angelic language. "Actually, a lot of our place just had renovations recently," she switched back to English. "I have my 18th soon and my room had been really lacklustre. So, if you want to, we can go there now. The rest of the family should be home as well."
The woman smiled and nodded before they left to go to the car. Dean was visibly nervous, not even Cas could help. When they arrived at the bunker, the woman looked skeptical.
"This is your home?" she asked.
"Well, my dad and uncle inherited this place from my great-grandfather Henry and they moved in a few years back." Serah got out and smiled. "Now we live here. It's really homey." They went inside where Sam, Jess and Gabriel had lunch.
"Who's this?" Sam asked.
"From the foster home." Serah went to them and dropped on his lap. "That's my dad and my other dad and my aunt Jess."
The woman smiled. "Nice to meet you," she said. "What do you do at work, if I may ask?"
Sam watched Serah. "Uhm..."
"He's a lawyer," Serah smiled. "A passion of his, really." She got up again. "I can show you around a little and maybe can have a cup of tea before he faints." She approached him and kissed his cheek. "I got this," Serah whispered and smiled. Then, she walked down the hallway. "This is the kitchen. Dean loves cooking, but he's a busy bee sometimes." She walked further. "This is my bedroom." She pushed open the door. Instead of the dark room with boring furniture, the room had received a complete makeover. The walls were now white with a light-yellow accent wall. She had moved the bed into the corner and added a small sofa with matching yellow cushions.
"Of course, my cousin is gonna have a room like this. I mean, depending on how old they are, and their colour preferences et cetera," Serah smiled.
"I like it a lot," the woman smiled.
"Anyway, further back my dad's room and the hallway leads to the others' rooms," Serah explained.
"I think I have seen enough," the woman said and went back to the others. Dean and Cas had settled down, Gabe had moved on Sam's lap taking a nap. The woman walked up to them "Mister, uhm?"
"Campbell," Dean filled in.
"Mister Campbell, right. I admit I was very skeptical of this place, but what I have seen looks so nice. I am sure the two of you would make great parents. If you would drive me back and we figure out the paperwork, that'd be nice." Dean smiled widely. He got up and took his keys, leaving with the woman and Cas.
"I'm so happy for them," Serah smiled and sat down. "I hope we'll have a kid in the house soon."
"On a different note," Sam said. "Who allowed you to buy new furniture?"
"Well, I didn't," Serah corrected. "Also, it's my birthday soon, so pretty please?"
Sam sighed smiling. "Fine, sunshine. I hope you're happy."
