Serah hugged Eliot tightly and smiled. "It was a lovely evening. Thank you."
"Was a pleasure," Eliot smiled.
"I gotta go now. Dad's waiting." She pressed a kiss on his lips and walked to Sam's car. "Thanks for the ride, dear gentleman," she said. "I don't usually tramp."
Sam laughed. "It's a pleasure, dear."
Serah leaned on his shoulder. "I don't know if I ever told you but when I first rode a car with you, I was scared you were gonna hurt me."
"How exactly was I gonna do that?"
"I don't know, I'm the prettiest bulb, not the brightest."
"That's not true, sunshine." Sam smiled.
Serah scratched her head. "Dad? Can I talk to you from one semi-grown up to another?"
Sam laughed. "Sure, honey. What is it?"
"I didn't just think bad of you. There was something... bad... I mean, it's not gone. Actually, a couple of days ago it got... worse."
"You're a nephilim, Serah. Sometimes something changes in a person and it's weird."
Serah watched him. "Dad, what did you do?"
"Nothing." Sam sighed. "When I was a baby, a demon named Azazel fed me his blood."
"Ew," Serah said.
"That's probably what you felt... And, uhm... about recently." Sam raised his eyebrows. "I've been elected King of Hell."
"What?" Serah watched him. "Dad stop the car."
"Come again?"
"Stop the damn car!"
Sam pulled over. "Serah..."
"We're gonna handle this properly," Serah said. "Because one of us is a responsible grown-up and the other is a stupid moron."
"Serah! I'm still your father!"
"You sold your soul, dad!"
Sam sighed. "Your dad and I talked about this."
"And I asked myself where you've been all those days. Dad, are you having an affair?"
"You better shut your mouth and think about what you try to accuse me of." Sam drove back on the street.
"Dad-"
"No." Sam reached for the radio and turned on the music.
Serah's heart felt heavy. She turned her head to the window and tried to blur our the tunes coming from the speakers. She tried to act as if she wasn't hurt, or that she was in the right of being wary. Like Sam wasn't the most loyal person Serah has ever laid her eyes on, besides Eliot perhaps.
They arrived at the bunker, and Serah made her way inside if it wasn't for Sam holding her by the shoulder, gently pulling her against his chest. "You know I'd never cheat on him."
"Why would you do something as stupid as that?" Serah asked. "I just want a happy family."
"We are a happy family." Sam wrapped his arms around her. "We're just a little special. You're related to every single powerful being in existence, and the three most feared hunters on Earth."
"Well, I'm not technically related to her."
"Shh," Sam laughed. "Just relax, enjoy our life." He wrapped an arm around her and walked inside.
"You didn't even tell me how your date was."
"Great." Serah smiled. "His parents are scarily nice. Like they are serial killers or something."
"Maybe you're a little paranoid."
"Me and paranoid? Says the guy that has a gun under his pillow."
"It's a knife," Sam corrected. "And-"
"If you say anything remotely sexual I am looking for another family."
"I wasn't going to." He pressed a kiss on her head. "I'm going to check on the twins and then go to bed. Don't stat up too late, alright?"
"Got it. Goodnight." Sam disappeared into the nursery, and Serah walked into the kitchen. When she turned on the light, Jack was sitting at the kitchen table.
"Up so late?" Serah asked.
"Clark and Noah are asleep and I was bored."
Serah laughed and sat down. "That's cute."
"I love them a lot." He pulled out his phone and opened a picture. "It's my phone background."
"Aww, he's a cute little nugget."
"A nugget?"
"Don't question me." She smiled. "How's Noah?"
"He's always very sleepy. I think it's really cute."
"He is. How's Clark?"
"He barely leaves Noah's side," Jack smiled. "He's trying very hard to be a good father."
"That's good." Serah watched Jack's phone. "Have you been with John yet?"
Jack shook his head. "He's been with the twins a lot but I'm sure he's gonna spend some time with us too if we ask."
"Yeah," Serah said. "Sounds fun."
