Samuel Stone - District One
Sam ignored his brother on purpose and focused purely on the fact he was in a damn cave. He hated caves. The countdown started and once again he found it hard to not look in his brothers direction; even Sam thought how different Grey looked... how unprepared. Stop it, he chastised himself, you're not his baby sitter. Sam didn't really have a plan; he guessed he would just fight, fight until he couldn't fight anymore. His eyes only focused on the brightest and biggest tunnel in front of him - that would lead to the weapons and food... to his damn armoury. He smirked, although he already had an advantage... his diamonds had been woven into his shirt; and considering diamonds are the hardest substance on earth - he hoped that if a bullet got him, the diamonds would help. The countdown reached four and Sam got into the running stance - again he refused to look at competition, he only cared about himself. Three, two, one... go! The siren sounded and Sam was gone. He sprinted with all he had down this tunnel but he could hear people gaining on him.. should he turn? No. Keep running. Sam realised the Cornucopia wasn't that far away and soon he ran into a great cave - walls so dark and high you couldn't even see the top of them. The weapons and supplies were surrounded by a shallow looking pool of water. Only three had been fast enough to keep up with him. Meme, Azure and Odessa. Sam didn't care though, he just kept going. In one swoop he managed to get his pistols and some grenades, and he turned to grab something else but saw a weak looking girl not paying attention to her surroundings. This was his chance.
As quick as a flash he snatched the axe from her hand and swung it down on her neck before she even had chance to scream. He hoped his rivals saw that - he'd just killed Odessa and he'd kill them too. More people were racing to the supplies now so he had to be quick. He scooped up a bag with various food and health care and finally he grabbed a bow and arrow. Sam had chance for one final glance; he could still see Azure and Meme; both of whom were locked in battle and he was about to attack but halted himself. He didn't want to get into a fist fight with the strongest competitors. "Odessa!" Someone screamed. Sam whirled round to see the two District 11's looking at him. He gave them a smirk, "sorry, she lost her head." And then sprinted off again; however this time they chased him. Sam went down the nearest escape route he could find but soon found he was running in circles. He had to think of something and fast and then, it hit him. Grenades. Sam went down the same route he'd taken twice before know, knowing full well they would follow however this time when he rounded the corner he yanked a grenade from his pocket and pulled the pin. He threw it round the corner and heard it hit the floor, for just a second all he could hear was his chasers footsteps before... Bam! An explosion twice the size of what he expected shook the earth around him - fire and body parts brushed against his skin, staining his clothes and hair. Ashes were in his eyes but Sam got up - that nose was bound to attract people. He had to go.
Standing up he brushed a disembodied hand off his shoulder and tried to ignore the sickening thud it made when it hit the floor. Now looking tattered and torn Sam hauled himself along in the dark, trying to keep as alert as he could. Before long he came across another boy - dark hair... the name Ren rang a bell. From these shadows, Sam knew he could take him out in some creative and dramatic way, but he was bored of drama so simply pulled out his pistols and shot in in the back of the head at point blank range. "Another one bites the dust," Sam sung to himself before jogging on. He could hear the cannon going off left right and centre and it made him wonder if there would be any tributes left for him to fight. Sam felt quite relaxed...until his eyes fell on another tribute. A defensless tribute, occupied, distracted, day dreaming. An easy kill; weak, whimpering...it was his brother, Greyson. He stopped himself from going to him; he didn't want to get attached. But... when he saw a girl creep up behind him he hoped his brother would hear her, would react and save himself. However, Greyson did nothing. The girl pulled her blade out and crept closer to Grey...Sam couldn't help it, he couldn't watch his brother die. Before he knew it his bow and arrow came out and he pulled the string back, getting it as tight and as strong as he could. Sam took a deep breath and let go. The arrow embedded itself in the girls brain and Grey was safe. Sam dropped the bow and arrow; noticing how his brother had no weapons at all, and then crept back into the shadows. It wouldn't do them good to be seen together - they would be emotionally compromised. "I wont save your ass again," said Sam before giving Grey a final look and vanishing to find his next kill.
