Task Two: The Gamemaker's Guide To Planet Earth

Almost everything  Évangélique can see from the top of her tower is water, which causes her  to laugh. The tributes should have fun with this if they can't swim.

Well, they don't call it the blue planet for nothing.

The water is interrupted  by six islands, in easily recognizable shape - if you see them from  above - that is; each piece of land looks like one of the continents.  Every island is covered in a particular type of forest, though  Évangélique doesn't remember their names. That's her panel's job; each  of her Gamemakers get a different continent.

"Frigus, are you ready?"  she calls, to her second-in-command. He looks over the replica of North  America he has created, where configerous trees govern the north and  maple trees roam free in the south.

"Ready."

"Helvetica?"

The cruel woman smiles -  already a bad sign - and looks over her South America, covered in cacti  and deserted plains. She has placed an artificial warm sun over the  tributes, but very little humidity or water can be found.

"Ready."

"Filius?"

Filius inspects his  version of Europe, and smugs proudly at himself; he has managed to  re-create a small replica of the Alpes, surrounded by tiny houses, the  architecture in them showing the various different countries.

"Ready."

"Elouiba?"

The slightly opulent  woman nods; she has full trust in her ability to re-create Africa;  jungles and rainforests cover almost every inch of the continent,  occasionally spaced by deserts. Heat and humidity burst through the air,  causing the test rain she sent to evaporate immediately.

"Ready."

"Xylia?"

The small  porcelain-faced girl looks up and grins, causing Évangélique to smile;  she remembers how excited she was during the first Games she had made.  And the new girl has done a pretty good job of re-making Asia,  decorating with the bamboos dominating the south. The north is ruled by  frozen land with little flora - other than the occasional shrub.

"Ready."

"Royale?"

The man looks to the  beautiful Head Gamemaker, and then back to his creation. Simple forests  can be found all over the small continent known as Oceanea - not  Australia, that's a country - with herbs over the ground in some  regions.

"Ready."

Évangélique signals, and  the entire sphere - she has received many congratulations on thinking  of a spherical shape - trembles. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean  (between North America and Europe) rises twenty-five platforms;  twenty-four tributes, and one Cornucopia.

"Let the bloodbath begin."

---------------------- -

The Task:

-This is a typical  bloodbath task. Five tributes must be killed - no more,  no less. At  least one must die by your hands. You may use anything you want  (including faces in the sky) to show the other deaths. REMEMBER: please  space out the deaths. Too many deaths blocked together can really ruin a  piece of writing.

-Entries are due  TUESDAY, May 14th at 8 PM CST. No extensions. I was not impressed with  the amount of people who didn't hand in, so remember: failure to hand in  results in a score of zero for the task, which is a big handicap.

-1500 word limit. This should be plenty long enough.

-Entries will be graded  out of twelve, awards will be handed out for best entry, best  characterization, and best quote. Each award is worth three points.

-The first entry handed in will be granted an additional point. The last one in will lose a point.

-Aleksandr, Zara, and Megan: Though you do not need to hand in, I would recommend you do, as it could get you some bonus awards.
