Kaida has the fiery temper of her namesake, and refuses to back down from a challenge. She likes being alone, since the only real friends she has are male apprentices back at the sanctuary. Since she normally spends her time with males, she has a hard time connecting with females. Many of the people at the sanctuary call her either "Dragon" or "Little Dragon" and she finds these nicknames comforting.
Kaida around new people, is very quiet, not because she is shy, not at all, she is quiet because she listens to what people say and assesses the situation, many people find this weird, but after almost 8 years of doing it, that is the only was she knows.
She always strives to do her best, because she feels her parents are disappointed in her, less so then before she continued the training to be a samurai, however, nothing she seems to do pleases them. They always compare her to her older brother's, even through she has completely different interests.
Back-Ground: Kaida's mother was originally from Japan, while her father was from China, after their first child (Kaida's oldest brother), was born, the settled in Hong Kong to raise their children, which included Kaida's two older brother's and herself. Her parents were very traditional, and at the age of 8, each of her brother's were sent to a special sanctuary where they would become samurai, however, neither of them chose to continue, and soon left.
She was only 4 when her second brother went, and by the time she was 8, had decided that she wanted to go as well. So, through her parents would have rather had one of their sons, they allowed her to go, and she has trained there ever since, much to her parents delight.
This sanctuary is in the heart of The Scared Mountains of China, while they occasionally get tourist (which are all turned away), normally they are kept isolated, only coming in contact with their masters and the other apprentices. However, when the Game's were made, word was quickly sent to them demanding anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 be sent to the reaping. Kaida was one of four apprentices (the only girl of the four) to be there, and most of the time they joked that this was their time to shine.
Almost as if fate had told them, Kaida was reaped.
