The walk to school was actually more then I thought it would be. We talked as we did and actually had quite a pleasant conversation. Thankfully I was able to keep a hold of my emotions during that time... But I think I made a good first impression. However he stopped once we reached the school gates.
"Something wrong...?"
"Apparently I have to wait here for this girl..." He muttered. "Guess I can just do some work here while I wait..."
"...I can wait with you if you want." He looked at me. "I mean... You don't have to..."
"I don't mind. Really."
"Yeah but..." His expression went to a concerned state as his eyes trailed off me." "But what..?"
"You know the stuff that happened last term...?" He then realised what he said. "Stupid question... Everyone around the dam country has..."
"...Yes I know about it..." I replied. "Well, the people that did go... missing... were around me for a bit before they did disappear. I have a sense that the reason for them disappearing is because of me... So if you want to start hanging around me then... I don't want to risk it in case you go missing like the rest of them."
...
"That won't happen... Things have cleared up since last term and they found the cause of it all... So the murders will stop-"
"Don't say that."
...
"I don't like to think that they were... Murdered. The ones which haven't been... found anyway..." He explained as he looked back at me. "So you can understand why I'm hesitant..."
"...I won't end up like the rest. I promise. I'll be careful is anything unusual starts to happen..." He just stared at me before sighing. "Fine... So long as nothing bad happens to you..."
I couldn't tell if I should be happy or sad that he said that. He cares about if I go missing or not but at the same time he's still worried about all the others and why everything happened in the first place. I didn't think getting rid of them when he didn't know would make that much of an impact on him but I was wrong.
"Do you know how long we have to wait...?" He looked back at his phone to find an answer to my question. "Apparently she lives quite far away and missed the bus... So lucky enough if she makes it to school on time. Great first day impressions..."
"Sounds like a pain..." I grumbled. "Yep..."
"...Maybe it'd be better to--" I was cut off by the sound of someone yelling in our direction. "Hey!" I looked over in irritation to see where the voice came from. Only to find a first year running up to the gate towards us. She was light brown haired, blue eyes. Nothing special. She ran past me and over to him, stopping and puffing. "Are you... George...?" He blinked a few times as if to grasp what just happened but he looked down at his phone then back at her. "Juliet...?" She stood up straight and nodded. "Yeah, sorry I missed the bus I was busy helping my mum... But I ran here so I wouldn't be late."
She then looked at me and gave a bow. "I'm so sorry for interrupting your discussion."
If you were sorry you wouldn't have done it
"Oh, don't worry about it... It's fine..." I replied waving my hand and giving a plastered smile. She stood up straight again and nodded, then looked back at him. "If you're busy then just tell me what I need to do." She asked George, still seeming to be sorry she stuck her head in something she shouldn't have. "No... I've been put on the job to be sure you're ok on your first few weeks here... Only fair I did that." He replied, though it was clear he was a little annoyed. To me anyway. "...Really? Are you sure?"
"Yes. I am." He then looked at me. "You can come along if you want." Normally I wouldn't accept this kind of offer and instead watch what they were doing from afar. But this time it may be better if I was up close instead of just barely hearing things. But I glanced at her before looking back at him. "Sure, I'd love to." He then nodded and looked back at the smaller girl. "We should probably get your student ID and locker number and key first." He stated as he started to walk in the direction towards the faculty room.
The girl stood in between us as he knocked on the door. Despite him not liking this girl she still annoyed me.. However with the conversation I had before with him and how the two just met. I doubt anything would happen between the two and I wouldn't have to do anything. At least that's how I hope it'd stay... Though a faculty member soon opened the door. "Yes?"
"Hello. Sorry to bother but we have a new student who's started today and needs to pick up her ID and locker items." He was always good when talking to adults, despite what the topic may be about. He was always that good...
"Oh, yes. We have the pile for the new students joining us today. Please, come in and grab your items then find the locker you have been assigned with." I noticed George looked down at the girl and gestured, causing her to nod and follow the teacher inside. "How long do you have to follow her around..." I muttered trying not to sound too irritated, but still giving off that vibe. He paused while he looked at me for a moment. "You have a problem with it...?"
...
"It just seems annoying..."
"Well I can't disagree with that... But it's my sister... So I don't exactly have a choice."
"Why? She's just your sister..."
"Yeah but if I don't do it then she'll loose the guy and we won't get the money anymore..." He then grumbled to himself and angry twitched the phone off; it seemed he wanted to do more then just that. "...What does she do?" He didn't reply, instead staying silent as he thought to himself then sighed. "Don't worry about it..."
I wanted to ease him somewhat but once again I was interrupted as the girl walked out from the faculty with her card and key. "The lockers were near the front of the school, right?"
"Yeah we can go there now." George replied as he put the phone away once more. But then the school bell rang. He looked over at me once the noise stopped. "You should go to class... Don't worry about us we'll be fine." I didn't want to leave him alone with her but I had no other option. So I nodded and turned around to walk to my class, fighting with myself as the further I walked from him the empty, dark feeling started to crawl it's way back into me. Leaving me to my emotionless state once again.
I hated it.
But I could always go back and find him at lunch now, so it's not like I had to hang around the outskirts anymore. Though now knowing his situation I had to keep an eye on the girl... Though I couldn't get rid of her like I did with the others. If things were to come to it I needed to get rid of her in another way; one that wasn't lethal or caused her to harm herself.
Those words came back into my head though.
"You may think you have every problem out of the way. But there will be one thing which always comes along to ruin your "perfect little paradise". "
Could this be what that statement meant. That after everything I done to be able to be with him will be flushed down the drain all because of this one little girl coming out of nowhere. Even if I don't plan to kill her to get her out of the way... Everything will still be ruined somehow...
...No...
I couldn't let her words get to my head. She's gone now. She's left me alone once and for all. This whole thing has nothing to do with her, it's my own. Not hers. Her stupid comment doesn't mean anything and never will. Not to mention from how things have started off there is no way the two of them could develop feelings for each other that fast.
But I was yet to find out how wrong I was.
