Chapter 19

DJ grabbed Kath's hand before she could walk away, his teary eyes locking on hers. It tore him apart to see that she was already crying, her hands shaking. "I got it." He breathed and Kath's eyebrows creased together.

"G-Got what?" She choked out, more tears falling down her face.

"Jason called me... he hired me, I start working for him on Monday," DJ said and Kath cracked a very small smile.

"I-I promise I'm very proud of you, I just... I-I'm..." Kath trailed off, locking her arms around DJ as she let out a sob and he pulled her to him. He let a few tears fall himself, kissing the top of her head.

"Hey, if this is happening for us, I'm not mad," DJ said simply, his eyes locking on hers again as they slowly pulled away from each other.

"Y-You're not?"

"Of course not! Yeah, it's happening a little early, but... I love you and Noah adores you, my family will love you... I'm excited." DJ said with a smile and Kath couldn't help but laugh through her tears.

"You could tell your face that. You're crying, psycho." She accused playfully and DJ chuckled.

"I'm crying because I hate seeing you crying... don't be scared, K, be excited," DJ said, squeezing her hands and Kath sniffled, but she knew deep down that she was excited. They were moving fast if it truly was happening for them, but they had moved fast from the beginning - they'd only been together for just over three weeks.

"W-We need to slow down if this is really happening," Kath concluded and DJ couldn't help but laugh, which made her smile too.

"I think it'll be a bit late for that... but go on, I'll be right here." He encouraged and Kath took a deep breath before letting go of his hands and she went into the bathroom, shutting the door. DJ dropped down onto his bed, able to feel his heart hammering against his chest. He knew he should feel scared - they could have created a baby on their first date and that was only three weeks ago, but he didn't feel scared at all. He was excited. He'd never been so intensely in love with someone before, but after waking up beside her after their first date he just knew she was the one he wanted to wake up next to every day for the rest of his life. She'd changed his life completely just by coming into it, she'd gotten him a much better job where he'd be paid more money than he'd ever know what to do with and she loved Noah just as much as he loved his son. If Kath was pregnant, he knew that people would judge them for it being so soon, but he didn't care. He was excited and he could see in Kath's eyes that she was too, she was just scared for his reaction, scared she'd be left to go through it all on her own, but the moment DJ told her he was excited... he could see her face light up.

"Daddy, where's Kath?" Noah asked, coming into the bedroom holding Leo by his paw and DJ looked over at him.

"Just in the bathroom, bud, I thought I told you to play in your room?" DJ questioned, but he watched as Noah climbed up onto the bed beside him, his eyes locking on the closed bathroom door.

"I want to be with you and Kath," Noah said innocently, swinging his legs back and forth on the bed and DJ couldn't help but crack a small smile.

"She'll be out in a minute, bud," DJ promised and Noah nodded, his fingers running through Leo's mane. The toy still meant the world to him, he never went anywhere without it and he still wore Kath's hoodie to bed sometimes even though it was losing its smell of her. It was still warm and he imagined her cuddling him when he wore it, it made him feel safe.

"Why are we waiting outside the bathroom?" Noah asked, confused when DJ let out a small laugh and he shook his head slowly at his son.

"You'll know soon enough, monster." He said, but he stood up instantly when the door swung open, catching Kath when she threw herself at him, her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck.

"I'm pregnant!" She announced, tears streaming down her face but they were tears of joy.

"What?!" He exclaimed, a beaming smile on his face and he kissed her deeply, pulling one of her arms from around his neck and he could see the pregnancy test she was holding and there, in black and white, on the display read the word: 'Pregnant'. He broke down in tears, holding her up and they kissed deeply, not needing to say that they loved each other to know that they did.

"What does that mean?" Noah asked as he knelt up on the bed, confused and scared when he saw DJ and Kath crying and DJ very carefully set Kath down, but she nodded at him, silently reassuring him to tell Noah.

"It means you're gonna be a big brother," DJ said, both of them laughing as Noah screamed and threw himself at Kath, but he hugged DJ around the neck too.
