Chapter 101

Kath rose up onto the stage, waving to the fans she could see and she couldn't wipe the smile from her face - the stage vibrated with the noise of all the cheers and screams, her eyes landing on her family and friends who were stood at the side of the stage - the kids wearing headphones to protect their ears. Dylan was reaching for her Mom, excited to see her and Kath blew her and Noah a kiss before facing her audience. "How are you doing, guys?!" Kath said into the microphone, laughing to herself when all she got were more cheers and screams in response. "Man, it's been a long time since I last did something like this... I've had to tone certain things down about my shows now." Kath said, laughing as the fans all screamed again. "My kids are here, but hopefully they'll be asleep towards the end," Kath smirked, a blush coming to her cheeks as DJ winked at her and the fans all cheered. "You guys might have noticed that there's a charity collection happening outside in the lobby area, um... all proceeds from this show are going to that charity, it's very close to my heart - it's a charity that provides helplines and counseling to women and the immediate families of those women who have been through a miscarriage." Kath took a deep breath as her eyes burned with tears, but she smiled as her fans all cheered for her, supporting her. They all knew how much she'd been through since the last time she performed.

"MOMMY!" Noah yelled, jumping up and down and Kath looked over at him, waving to him.

"Hey, monster. What's your favorite song?" Kath asked, taking the microphone off the stand and she walked towards them, kneeling down and she could just about reach Dylan, holding onto her hand. The audience was going crazy, able to see them on the big screens behind the stage.

"Confident! Mommy bad-butt in the video!" Noah beamed and Kath burst out laughing, leaning down more and she kissed his head as JC lifted him up so she could reach and she stood up as the music to Confident started. It was strange for Noah to look around and see thousands of people singing along to his Mom's songs, but he didn't focus on other people too much. He danced with Liza and Alex to the music, DJ swaying with Dylan to keep her settled since as she was getting fussy, able to see her Mom but not be with her and DJ wouldn't put her down so she could explore.

DJ set Dylan down towards the end of the show, the baby girl overtired - he'd tried to take her backstage to try and put her to sleep, but without her usual routine she was refusing to even lay down for longer than a couple of minutes.

"She'll sleep well tonight," JC said into DJ's ear, who chuckled and nodded his head - he was somewhat relieved that it was the last song. The kids were getting tired and he still had a lot to do with Kath to prepare for Dylan's first birthday the next day.

"No!" Kath suddenly stopped singing, rushing to the stairs and DJ cursed, only then noticing what was happening - Dylan was climbing up the steps at the side of the stage. The audience 'awed' at the sight of her as Kath lifted her up, holding her against her hip. "Crazy baby." She whispered to her daughter, kissing her head before going back over to the microphone stand and she continued to sing, DJ smiling as she turned, singing the song to her family - those she'd known her whole life and those she hadn't known for long at all, but they were everything she needed - her family, her life. It meant the world that, when her last song was over, her fans started to sing 'Happy Birthday' to Dylan.

Kath and DJ hung around the venue for around an hour after the concert was over, saying goodbye to everyone and agreeing a time for them to come over the next day for Dylan's birthday - the kids had all finally fallen asleep by the time Kath was done getting changed and had taken her makeup off. It was easy to get Dylan and Noah to bed once they got home, tucking them in and they could finally start decorating downstairs for the party, getting her presents out from their hiding place and setting them down in front of the toybox underneath the window in the living room. They hadn't gotten her much, hardly any toys since as she had enough already - they just got the things she needed, like clothes and a couple of books as well as a stuffed toy or two, they'd asked their family and friends to do the same but they already knew she was going to be spoiled.

DJ raised an eyebrow as Kath set an envelope down in front of all the presents. "What's that?" He asked and she shook her head, pecking his lips.

"Just gift from Mommy." She breathed and DJ smiled.

"And I'm not allowed to know what it is?"

"You'll find out tomorrow." She whispered, kissing him again and DJ groaned as she walked away, smiling as she laughed.
